Within its borders, Idaho is a land of extremes. From desert moonscape to towering peaks that spawn a thousand rivers; from urban sprawl to places scarcely trod by humankind. It's a
young land, where antiques are only fifty years old. Its mountains are so young they periodically remind us of their growing pains. Much of Idaho is best described as, "You can't
get there from here." We are as back woods as it gets where we touch the Canadian border, and in our capital city, as urbane as we wish to be.

From the Back Cover

Within its borders, Idaho is a land of extremes. From desert moonscape to towering peaks that spawn a thousand rivers; from urban sprawl to places scarcely trod by humankind. It's a young land, where antiques are only fifty years old. Its mountains are so young they periodically remind us of their growing pains. Much of Idaho is best described as, "You can't get there from here." We are as back woods as it gets where we touch the Canadian border, and in our capitol city, as urbane as we wish to be. It is, by and large, still pure, still innocent, still wild – full of wonder and the unexpected.
Kirk Anderson voyaged Idaho's every crevice to discover this untamed country through his photography. This collection equally represents every region of the state, with images that capture the light and color of Idaho's unique scenery. Anderson's inspiration is found in the elements of nature, and his spectacular photography is the reward of his skill and patience while waiting for light, seasons, and weather to work their magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Idaho Discovered, February 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Idaho Discovered (Hardcover)
As a native Idahoan, this is the first book I have ever found that truly represents the entire state. Idaho is a very diverse landscape and a huge area to cover by any means of transportation. Kirk Anderson's commitment to intimately discover and share his Idaho journey is a gift to all who know or wish to know this beautiful state. The photography proves to be of the highest caliber. Great !

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!, December 16, 2001

This review is from: Idaho Discovered (Hardcover)
Although I have lived and traveled in Idaho for more than 30 years, Kirk Anderson's book "Idaho Discovered" has revealed a vision of Idaho that I had not perceived. The images range from hauntingly beautiful to light hearted and whimsical; from hundred mile vistas to dew drops on a single leaf, but always with an intensity, quality, and clarity that sets this book apart from standard issue photo books. The images all seem to be on the verge of coming to life due to Mr. Andersons unique method of capturing wind, water, sky, snow, and even fire on film.

If you love Idaho, dream of coming here one day, or simply want to take an extraordinary armchair journey from one end on Idaho to the other, then this book is for you.

Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievble landscape photography, December 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Idaho Discovered (Hardcover)
I truly "discovered" Idaho in this book. Having spent several years of my high school days in Northern Idaho, I didn't ever dream that such beauty surrounded me. I have since traveled over alot of the state, country and some foreign countries, and have been astounded at the scenery which had been practically in my back yard. There were landscapes that were breathtaking and Anderson's ability to capture the most minute detail of each one was magnificant. Of course, skiing, hiking and biking to some of these locations was an added bonus that most people don't have the opportunity to experience. I discovered this book on [the photographer's] website...
