Book Description

February 15, 2008
The second edition of Idaho Mountain Wildflowers has been greatly expanded. 225 more plants from the mountains of Idaho, (many of which are also found in neighboring states and provinces) have been added to almost double the size of this volume over that of the first edition.

In response to many requests, this edition of Idaho Mountain Wildflowers is in a soft cover format with french flaps for readers who wish to refer to the book in the field.

On the basis of ongoing molecular, chromosomal, and historical studies, many plants have been reclassified in the recent past. This edition stresses the new classifications (while noting the old ones) for every plant in this edition of Idaho Mountain Wildflowers.

About the Author

Dr. A. Scott Earle, formerly Professor of Plastic Surgery in the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, has devoted his retirement years to photographing and writing about the mountain plants of Idaho, and—with Dr. James Reveal—about the plants that were colleted by the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Jane Lundin is a school librarian and devoted plant lover from Seattle who spends her summers in Sun Valley. For the past twenty years she has sought out and photographed the wildflowers that grow in Idaho’s mountains.

Dr. James L. Reveal is emeritus Professor of Botany at the University of Maryland and presently on the faculty of Cornell University. He is widely known for his contributions to taxonomy and has written extensively on the history of botany and on the botanical contributions of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Now in an updated second edition, Idaho Mountain Wildflowers: A Photographic Compendium has been expanded with the addition of 225 more plants, almost doubling the size of the catalogue. Beautiful full-color photographs of every flower's entry, along with its common and scientific names, and an extensive paragraph of descriptive text, distinguish this wildflower compendium accessible to lay people and professional botanists alike.
