Best Tasting Time Saver,
By Phoebe Oh (central Illinois) - See all my reviews And this has been an absolute time saver. We had preemie twins (one with some health issues) and some days I have ABSOLUTELY NO TIME to cook even a simple meal from scratch. These potatoes are as easy as a few minutes with a microwave, and my husband and 4 year old son just gobble this up. (The 4 oz. packets are good to feed four people -- three if you like large helpings. I guess the 16.5 oz. units would be for larger family gatherings.)

Bought for home use. Great volume product. Generates lumps like homemade. Used heavy cream and butter. One half bag makes 4 cups of delicious spuds.

Best Tasting Instant Mashed Potatoes on the Market,

I don't often buy instant potatoes for my family, but having done quite a bit of volunteer work in kitchens where large quantities of food is being prepared to 'feed the masses' I have used many different varieties of instant mashed potatoes. I have generally been disappointed in the taste/texture of these products, but always willing to give a new product on the market a try, I bought this brand. I was amazed at the taste and texture of these potatoes. They are the closest thing to homemade mashed potatoes that I have ever used. I try out new things on my family all the time and don't tell them, just wait for a reaction. This got no reaction from them at all other than cleaning the bowl of all the potatoes and asking for more. I told them that they were instant and they too were impressed with the homemade taste. About a week later, I fixed 'real' homemade mashed potatoes and my son, after eating a few bites made the comment "I wonder how they got these potatoes to taste homemade". I laughed and told him that these were homemade. He shrugged and said they tasted just like the potatoes I had fixed the week before. That is quite an endorsement. These potatoes come in 16 oz. packages and they make about 16 to 20 servings per package. The only ingredient to be added is water (optional: milk). There is no breakdown on the package to fix smaller quantities, but I figured it out to be about 1/3 cup of instant potatoes to 1/2 cup of water is about 1 serving. Hopefully, this will help someone who doesn't want to fix 16 servings of potatoes at one time.

So Delicious!,

We buy the 4.1 ounce packets of the Idahoan Buttery Yukon Gold mashed potatos, which makes about 2 cups, and they are amazing and do in fact taste nice and buttery.
We have twin babies, one of whom has special needs, and there just isn't time to cook everything from scratch every day. I just mix one packet with water, pop it in the microwave and voila -- a few minutes later we have delicious mashed potatoes to go with a rotisserie chicken from the grocery or quick steak or burgers on the grill. What I love is that they are cheap and take no work (I literally have made this while I was busy holding one of the babies with my left arm) and they taste awesome, and the texture is very close to home-mashed potato. We can usually find them for about a buck for each 4.1 ounce packet at two of our local supermarket/box stores, which is even cheaper than buying fries at a fast food place. This is my favorite flavor, but the other flavors are awesome too.

These taste as good as mashed potatoes from scratch, and without any lumps. My kids are pretty picky and they love these. Add hot water and stir! It doesn't get much easier than that.

Love these potatoes. Taste great, easy to make and great price. Unfortunately it contains 25% salt. Ill stick with Betty Crocker.

I found this variety a bit disappointing compared to the last order and formulation of the Yukon Gold variety I received. This one had fewer solid bits of the gold potatoes and their skins and a higher proportion of the russet potatoes . The prior recipe was much superior to this variety. However, they are still delicious and I do like them a lot. Quite easy to prepare and taste very nice.
