My kids are in grade 2 and grade 4, and they are having a lot of fun with this game. An added benefit is that it works great as a travel/car game. I would actually like to see a few more letters on each side of the board, but it's fine as is for a good challenge. The kids are learning letter combinations and new words, so it's fun and educational. I would recommend it for kids from grade 1-grade 5.

4 Way Spelldown Wooden Game
Fun, simple game, that can easily be transported. This game is great for traveling, or while you are waiting for another child to be down with sports. We take this to my daughter's swimclass. While she is waiting to start usually 3-4 other kids want to play with her. This game helped my daughter with her spelling. You can use it for their spelling words. The game has simple directions to learn. Everthing fits in the wooden box. My first grader, and my third grader love it.

This is a game-of-choice in my middle school morning advisory. It's very simple. It's a good tool to teach blends, because getting the longer words requires knowing how to make consonant blends. It's been a hit for 2 years running, so I'd say it's a good investment. And these are 8th grade boys mostly, so the durability HAS been tested!
