Perfect function, with snug rivet and exact cutter. Perfectly knurled jaw faces, on a perfectly proportioned form. This and the model with sleeve crimper die

[and Klein's older models with or without crimper die] are the best of their types I've ever used. German Knipex line pliers don't even come close to this quality.

I am an engineer, a tool geek, and one who appreciates function and good design.
These pliers have been around for 40++ years. There is a reason why.
The Master Electrician who trained me would use nothing else but these Ideal sidecutting / Linesman pliers.

In my career I have used , Klein, Channelock, Knipex, Utica, Craftsman, Snap On, and many no-name or lower-quality pliers (like Stanley and similar Chinese / Taiwanese junk), over 20+ years. My primary use was in the Electrical trades however, I also have them for electronics and general household use as well as keeping a pair in my car toolkit.

These pliers will last forever as long as you use them properlyl . The only time I saw a set fail was when a co-worker (not ME!) cut a LIVE 3-phase 208V cable! it was NOT the plier's fault but, the end result was three giant knicks in the blades where the wires were cut. As with all tools, as long as you don't do something stupid, (I don't recommend cutting hardened steel or LIVE WIRES!), they will give many years of use.

The up sides I can think of-
1- They do the job with no excuses. They just work.
2- The smaller tips allow access into electrical boxes to cut, adjust or move wires in smaller spaces than a bigger pair of pliers with a standard nose.
3- They have a pull tape assist to help pull metal fish tapes.
4- They have the "feel" of a quality-made product intended for professional use.
5- As 1 above, They Just WORK!

There are a few minor downsides I can think of-

1- The are rather pricey- However, If you consider the satisfaction gained with a long tool life and the fact they get the job done, the price will quickly fade into the backround.
