So tons of rad indie kids at my school (specifically the ones that work at the college radio station) list this band on their Myspace/Facebook in the "Favorite Bands" section, and usually it is listed as one out of five or six bands like it is no big deal that they listen to music, when everyone knows they own more vinyl than the indie record store downtown. After getting denied a DJ spot at the station, I figured I should beef my indie music library up a little so I can speak their language at the next interview, and avoid dropping the "Fall Out Boy" F-bomb again.
I picked this gem up to see what all the hype was about, and I can say I am not that surprised with how much this disc gleams with hipster rock that only kids that deny MSTRKRFT was ever a DFA1979 side project can boogie down to. When I listen to this album, I picture kids that squeezed into some zero's, threw on a striped polo, and heated up the straightener before meeting up with their other pals to throw back some Pabst and put this album on heavy rotation with some Moving Units and old school Le Tigre in the mix. So basically, if you can put that image in your head and say "Hey, I was just about to go do that, but wanted to see if this CD was any good before picking up some Blue Ribbons" then hop on your 1970's Nishiki or Peugot road bike, and get down to your indie record store and pick this up.
