Bird Banders "Bible",

This review is from: Identification Guide to North American Birds, Part I: Columbidae to Ploceidae (Paperback)
This is a technical guide for bird banding and our supervising organization, The Bird Banding Laboratory part of the Fish and Wildlife Service, accepts the data and criteria put forth in the Guide as acceptable criteria for identifying birds in the hand rather than thru binoculers.
I would not reccomend the book for bird watchers, it is as mentioned very technical and requires up close & personal contact with the bird to really be of use. When used as a technical guide (sometimes in conjunction with other Bird ID guides such a Sibley or Peterson) it is invaluable and should be part of every bird banders library. I recieved the book in perfect condition and in a timely manner. Kudos to the seller and the author |
