5.0 out of 5 stars Sam McRae Rocks!
"Identity Crisis" establishes Sam McRae, hard-boiled lawyer turned investigator, as a spunky sleuth who tackles her own identity crisis while investigating murder and identity thefts linked to client Melanie Hayes. High-speed chases, break-ins at a seedy strip club, and violent Mafia-linked connections keep this well-crafted novel on an adrenaline roller-coaster ride...

1.0 out of 5 stars my take on Identity crisis
I am an avid reader, this novel really has me wondering. I read all the reviews and for the price, i have nothing much to loose, i was expecting a lot more though from a 5stars review. The writing is very disappointing to me. This author does'nt describe an atmosphere or a place or a feeling, but every step she takes from the door to her car to everywhere. Tipical 2 bits...

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystery fan ISO new books...., November 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Yes, I was ISO something new. A huge mystery fan, I think I've read through every series out there... and I was extremely happy with this book. Sam McRae is a likable and human character and I really appreciated the local flavor. I'm not a big review-writer, so forgive me for not saying more... but the only thing that disappointed me is that I got so absorbed and read it so quickly, I didn't have anything for the rest of the flight! I hope this is the first of a series....

5.0 out of 5 stars Sam Mcrae, a lawyer anyone would love in their corner!, November 14, 2009

Identity Crisis by Debbie Mack
This is a first person narrative, so you only know and see what the narrator knows and sees, but so much happens to the narrator that there are few dull moments! The narrator is a lawyer, Sam McRae, who's client in a domestic dispute, disappears and is accused of killing her ex. Sam is trying to find Melanie, grapple with her own personal identity theft, and her own married boyfriend problems, and trying to figure out what is really going on. She gets beat up by mobsters, almost gets caught breaking and entering, and a few high speed chases, makes this a very exciting and somewhat complex mystery that will have you guessing to the very end. I loved the characters, and plot, and the twists and turns, & bodies, that keep you reading on. This is an amazing first book from this author, looking forward to more Sam McRae books in the future. Highly recommended.
Kindle format is only $1.59 and well worth the price!

Tipical 2 bits writing. Keep in mind that English is my second language, so don't judge me from this. Perhaps i am not a mistery reader, but i remember enjoying Grisham and some of Patterson or DeMille, even Dan Brown at the very beginning, and liking them.
i am trying to find a place where i can save comments for myself on books i read, some advice?i am new to Kindle. About my paper books i always make comments on the inside cover, including the year i read.On Kindle i have not found a way yet.
Thanx
Annamaria

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Make My Mistake, September 29, 2009

I would not have purchased IDENTITY CRISIS because I've been disappointed fifty times too often reading non-traditionally published books. That would have been my loss.

Debbi Mack's first novel is well conceived, well plotted, and well written. We're introduced to characters in whom I'm interested enough that I want to see them continue to develop and become fleshed out.

If you read this one, you'll look for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Identity Crissis a Great Mystery, September 24, 2009
I really enjoyed reading a Sam McRae Mystery. The author, Debbi Mack, writing style and plot grabbed me from the beginning with Sam McRae, a female lawyer who goes more than the extra mile for her client. The story is fast paced and a page turner to the very end. Sometimes books start off well and then drop the ball at the end but not so with Identity Crisis. It has a nice surprising ending that really wrapped up the book. It was a joy to read. I can't wait to read another Sam McRae Mystery by Debbi Mack.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great first book, September 18, 2009

Loved the protag, Sam McRae. She's a young lawyer who is trying to help out a domestic abuse client. A fairly simple case turns into murder, indentity theft, and involves the mob. Sam is a likeable character and shows she's tough and doesn't run out when things get sticky. She needs to get into a healthy relationship though- her cat cannot be her only companion. All in all, a good read. I'd read the next installment if Debbi Mack does a 2nd one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Treasure of a Novel, July 30, 2009
By New Orleans Writer "Gumbo Justice" (New Orleans, LA United States) - See all my reviews
When I think identity theft, I groan. I think paperwork, phone calls to banks, boring people looking up information. Absolutely NOT the case with Debbi Mack's Identity Crisis.

Identity Crisis is not just about identity theft- it's also a murder mystery and mob story, a trifecta of entertainment. The novel follows Sam McRae, a struggling private attorney handling what should be a simple domestic abuse case. When her client, the domestic violence victim, is suspected of murdering the abuser, Sam is determined to clear her name. Not such an easy thing, with a long list of suspects.

Sam is an engaging character, flawed but with a good heart. I would have liked to have learned even more about her, and am glad to hear there are more books in the series to come.

Just as engaging as the characters, Debbi Mack uses her settings like another character in her book. I have never been to Baltimore, but I could see the neighborhoods, the city, and even the diners as if I was there.

With an intriguing plot that seems to be one thing and ends up being another, the book is like a treasure hunt, with clues left like bread crumbs until the surprise whodunnit is revealed. This is a good read, one to keep on your shelf to read again so you can realize what you missed the first time around.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Strong 4 1/2 Star Kindle review. GREAT job Debbi Mack !!!!, July 28, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Debbi Mack has a new Kindle fan!!!

I was looking at a post with new authors and one title caught my eye, "Identity Crisis" by a new author--Debbi Mack. I usually don't read the reviews as what I might think is a great book someone else might not have liked it. So I went to read the Description of the book and new it was the type of story I love to read, I spent about $1.59 and thought it would be a short story like a few of the other new indie authors. I was pleasently surprised with Debbi's story from the beginning, I hadn't found any flaws - spelling errors- nothing amiss. I love a mystery without gore, unnecessary violence, and twists and turns and humor at times. I love "Sam" her way of thinking - plotting - gutsy moves - and following through and making decisions that are unusual. I find myself still laughing at some of the humor visuals.

If I did not know that Debbie Mack was a new author, I would of thought a Pro had written
"IdentityCrisis"- in fact I am forcing myself to continue reading a well known author's e-book now - a yawner - oh hum e-book. I would have paid Debbi the $9.99 for her e-book as she has a great imagination - has put alot of thought and knowledge into her writing and I am a reader that does not like to know how many chapters or pages there are in an e-book as for me it just spoils the ending if you are on page 409 and know there are only 15 more pages to the end. Debbi Mack's e-book was a FULL VERSION book. A bonus on top of being a first rate Author.. I would not change a word in Debbi Mack's book.

I did email Debbie when I finished the book and she has written 3 more stories and "Sam is also going to be a series" Ya Hoo. I can't wait for them all to come to the Kindle and Debbi Mack if you see this PLEASE charge $9.99, don't underestimate youself-in fact give yourself a big pat on the back and believe in yourself as an author. IMHO you have a GREAT future as an author, and I will read everything you write. Don't change your style Please. You are going be a threat to some of our famous Author's that are out there.

I definately recommend this New Author- you will not regret getting to know her and the entertainment she provides. Go to your favorite reading spot, grab a coffee, tea, drink etc. Get comfy and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great First Novel, July 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Good Stuff:

I have found that with first-time Indie authors who try their hand at crime/mystery novels, a lot of them have plot holes you could drive a semi through. That is not so with this one.

The reader follows Sam, the main character, through the investigation of a case that involves murder and identity theft. Every time Sam has an "Aha!" moment, the reader can "Aha!" right along with her. The plot is finely tuned to keep the reader enthralled throughout.

There were no editing errors that I can remember. This was definitely of publishable quality.

The Bad Stuff:

The characters, even Sam, fell a little flat. Not horribly so, as you will care about them while reading the book, but they are easily forgettable afterward.

Overall:

This is a wonderful first book, and the author should be truly proud of her accomplishment. I will definitely be looking forward to future work from this author.

Length: Full Novel: 3,748 locations on the Kindle

Rating: PG-13 for language and sexual situations.
