5.0 out of 5 stars Really unique!
A wonderfully original CD by an artist who is hard to peg into neat musical categories. 2.0 out of 5 stars She's okay but no Sade!
I was really expecting more from this performer. I bought the CD based on the reviews on this site. I was really disappointed. Samantha's voice seems a bit weak if you are expecting the fullness and maturity of Sades' voice. Over all I would say she is okay but doesn't have any "personality" in her singing voice. Save your money.... there are better artists...

A wonderfully original CD by an artist who is hard to peg into neat musical categories. I'd call it cool vocal keyboard-laced jazz pop with a twist of smoky cabaret, quiet-storm soul and new-age folk. In other words, a musical palette like no one else out there. Siva hits you with one delicious surprise after another: seducing brilliant contributions from smooth-jazz giants like David Benoit and Richard Elliot; becoming the new Sade on "Living Alone"; breaking your heart on the Babyface-like "If I Never"; serving up the coolest, most hypnotic "Scarborough Fair" ever (a song I thought could never sound fresh again). Great songs performed with style and versatility. Not to mention terrific production. The CD's a jewel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars, July 8, 2000
By A Customer

Identity is an energetic twist of British soul, R&B and contemporary jazz. This album had me listenning from start to finish. All the songs are melodic and catchy .. yet keep a pulse on jazz. Great musicians, great production. The first song -- I Cant Stop, with David Benoit is infectious and addictive like caffeine in the morning, twisting to the captivating cover of Scarborough Fair and ending with the European influenced piano instrumental Millenium. A must for the contemporary jazz fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just brilliant!, December 18, 2000

I have only just discovered Samantha Siva, and I have to say her music, her voice etc are just fanatastic. I have the new album 'Identity', and will buy the original soon 'Rhythm of the voices'. There is one song that has a Sade feel but overall her sound is more interesting and is more uptempo, jazzy and passionate. I could not make a comparison. Great variety. A welcome new artist. Recommended listenning for all.

I bought this as a recommendation from Amazon. Stunning voice. Just received CD today and have played 5 times! Wonderful vocal range. Reminds me somewhat of Sade. Can't wait to hear more from her.

I have never enjoyed listening to vocals and hearing instruments as much as this. The first time I heard her voice was on sonicnet, online radio and I fell in love immediately. I am interested to know when she will be in Phoenix, Arizona.

5.0 out of 5 stars A marvelous recording!, April 29, 2000

What a terrific CD! I stumbled upon this by accident, not ever having heard of Samantha Siva, and was very impressed! The other reviews here are quite right. There is a tremendous variety of styles that keeps the whole recording interesting. My favorites are "Like a Child" (both versions), "Lullaby", and the amazing rendition of "Scarborough Fair". It's hard to catagorzie Samantha's music, and that's a good thing. Highly recommended!

Well well, in terms of range, she could have a better upper register ceiling (keeping it constant) and truer pitch/tone, but otherwise This is one of the best groovy uplifting smooth jazz arrangements I have heard. Over all a great CD with great all star cast. If she gets better at keeping her pitch she will be unbelievable. Great for time to enjoy that afternoon drive down the coast :)
