Product Description

Protect yourself from payment fraud and identity theft. Many credit cards, drivers' licenses, transit cards, school, and company identification cards, and all passport cards have a Radio-Frequency-IDentification chip embedded inside them. These chips allow vendors to scan your credit card quickly at the checkout and allow authorities to scan your ID or passport card from a distance, making border crossing a little faster. However, it also makes stealing your identity a whole lot easier. Thieves can steal your information right through your regular purse or wallet!

Our Secure Sleeves will hold one credit card or ID card each and are made of a durable Tyvek exterior combined with our shielding material on the inside. The sleeve is slim enough that you can put your shielded card back in your wallet where you normally keep it.

The Secure Sleeve is designed to shield all contactless credit cards, drivers licenses, ISO 14443A/B and EPC Gen1/Gen2 contactless smart cards and any other contactless card that operates at 13.56 Mhz and above.

*Please note that it does NOT shield non-smart cards (older 125khz proximity cards). On cards that include a secondary 125 khz antenna added for backward compatibility only the new 13.56 Mhz interface is shielded.

Shields these types of cards:
- All new contactless credit cards
- US Passport Cards
- Enhanced Driver's Licenses such as Washington, Michigan, New York, and Vermont
- Many transit cards such as the DC Metro and Boston CharlieTM card
- TWICTM (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- HID iClass, HID MIFARE®, HID FlexSmart, DESFire
- Indala FlexSmart
- sQuid cards used in Europe

Does NOT shield these types of cards:
- Older "prox" cards, HID 125 khz. Includes: ProxCard II, ISOProx II, DuoProx II, Smart ISOProx II, Smart DuoProxII, ProxCard Plus
- Indala FlexISO, FLexCard, FLex Tag

Length: 3:58 Mins
I bought two of these sleeves and in basic home testing, they did not block a reader from reading the information on cards inside them. I created this short video showing the lack of blocking, including a test using simple tin foil around the card for comparison.

UPDATE 9/28: Thanks to the prompt response from the seller and some research, we have determined that the protection depends on the type of passive RFID card. Though the specific information on the frequency range these sleeves by Stronghold are designed to cover is protected by patent (see comments), they do not work with the lower frequency 125kHz cards, which are used by access cards, animal tracking and product authorization, according to a quick search. So I guess it takes a bit of research to tell if the sleeve will block the kind of card you want to protect or not (I got mine to block access cards, which it doesn't do).

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed to say the least March 26, 2012

You're kidding right? This so called Identity stronghold sleeve/case is nothing more than a paper envelope lined with tinfoil. The logo isn't even the same as it's advertised and this is what you expect me to feel my credit cards are secure with. Total misrepresentation of product and you have the nerve to charge 7.00 plus shipping for. This is a total joke. Do not buy!!

3.0 out of 5 stars May work, but expensive June 6, 2011

I got these thinking there were 3 per pack, but I was mistaken. You are buying 1 sleeve that comes to $10 after shipping. I am purchasing them for my wife and she carries about 9 cards so I wanted to cover her. Well I paid $30 for 3 cards that as another reviewer said were pretty much paper with tinfoil inside. I may just have to spend $50 or $60 on a wallet because it would be much cheaper. I know these probably only cost 25 cents to make so I just feel jipped.

Stronghold is a great company, this is a great idea...but having owned these for almost a year and I know we will all have to re-purchase and get new ones as these just don't hold up. It is a paper product lined with a thin foil type substance and if you use your card all the time instead of writing checks...and then slip it back in a 'sleeve' section of your wallet...it just is not meant for every day use.

Knowing that...until you buy a wallet that protects everything while the wallet is CLOSED...(the selection is pretty poor for design so far)...then these will do the work of securing from criminals and their hand held readers. They don't even have to be a pick-pocket anymore...just walk & scan near a wallet or purse!

I have heard & read that some states have RFID chips in their drivers' license and include these type card covers with the license that is mailed to your home or apartment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Credit card r/f protector March 31, 2012

The service was as expected. No issues at all as far as sales and delivery of the product. The problem I have is with the product itself. I must confess, I really didn't know what to expect. When the envelope came it was very disappointing! These are nothing but foil lined paper card envelopes! Talk about hassle! Imagine standing in a check out lane trying to pull your credit card out of this thing without destroying it. Then I step aside to try to put it all back together. What a PAIN!
I suppose this is to be filed under "live and learn". I'm just thankful it only cost me $15. for the two holders. I recomend to my friends that they find some other way to protect their credit cards.

3.0 out of 5 stars credit card protector April 22, 2012

Very awkward getting card into and out of protector, however it does fit well in my wallet. I think I'll try the tin foil suggestion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy, They are a Waste of Money December 8, 2012

Made out of paper which rip easily when taking them out of your wallet after a week. A piece of tin foil put on the outside of your wallet is cheaper and works better.Next time I will read the reviews first before wasting my money on crap like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really works... too well January 9, 2013

These things looked kind of cheap when they showed up. I'm sure I paid too much. However, the shielding seems to be ok in the sense that they set off metal detectors at airports and such.
