This review is from: Identity Theft (Hardy Boys Graphic Novels: Undercover Brothers #2) (Paperback)
"Identity Theft" is the second installment in the latest reincarnation of the Hardy Boys detective adventure stories. The graphic novels are loosely based on the characters from the old-school series written by Franklin W. Dixon. Teenage sleuths Frank and Joe Hardy have been translated into 21st century, tech-savy investigators working undercover for their father, detective Fenton Hardy.
The plot of "Indentity Theft" is certaintly up to date. Frank and Joe assist a young woman named Joy, who has been replaced in her own family by a look-alike female. The Hardy Boys cleverly expose the deception, but stumble onto an industrial scale cloning operation run by a ruthless thief. The story becomes truly exciting when our heroes discover they have been targeted for cloning by an evil mastermind. "Identity Theft" provides a nice updating of the original characters, who are still worthy role models, while providing them with an exotic and exciting plot designed to appeal to today's grade school audience. "Identity Theft" is highly recommended to that audience. |
