5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!
This is an excellent text to help any reader especially those working in Academia better understand the historical (and current)underlining (and often troubling) purpose of United States education. It's an easy to read, straight-forward text that highlights the "hidden curriculum" our students are receiving and how we as critically-concious, socially just educational...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great book marred by errors
While the book itself is an essential read for any individual entering into the field of education, this version is by far inferior to the standard paperback copy of the text. This is an excellent text to help any reader especially those working in Academia better understand the historical (and current)underlining (and often troubling) purpose of United States education. It's an easy to read, straight-forward text that highlights the "hidden curriculum" our students are receiving and how we as critically-concious, socially just educational advocates can better equip ourselves for the work ahead of us.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great book marred by errors, February 24, 2011

While the book itself is an essential read for any individual entering into the field of education, this version is by far inferior to the standard paperback copy of the text. It is marred by numerous typographical errors. Most commonly the letter 'c' has a tendency to show up in the middle of words throughout the book. On almost any given page I can usually find at least two to three instances of this error. The book itself is wonderful, informative and straightforward, but if you're looking to buy a copy of the book, buy the paperback.
