4.0 out of 5 stars Randy's 1986 return to straight acoustic jazz, January 11, 2003

This review is from: In the Idiom (Audio CD)
Randy's 1986 album, In The Idiom, was a successful return to straightahead acoustic jazz after years of electric jazz-funk with the Brecker Brothers. He performs eight of his compositions with a great band. Though none of these tunes will likely become standards, they have interesting themes and arrangements and provide fine vehicles for the participants to display their talents. Recorded live in the studio, this Denon CD has their usual excellent sound quality.

Ron Carter - Bass, Bass (Acoustic)
Joe Henderson - Sax (Tenor)
Dave Kikoski - Piano
Randy Brecker - Trumpet, Arranger, Flugelhorn, Producer
Al Foster - Drums
