5.0 out of 5 stars If you have target panic or want to improve, read this!
This book is an excellent overview of the authors (Bernie's) mobile shooters school. It covers bow set up, tuning, shooting form, the shot sequence and mental aspects of archery and much more. The author is a NFAA master coach and does a nice job of uncovering a lot of misconceptions about archery as well as pointing out many of the things that are often overlooked...

There is alot of usefull info in here but that is over shadowed by the ego trip he's on. He insults your intelligence way to much. He should have hired a writer to make the book less abrasive and should spend less time advertising his products.

4.0 out of 5 stars A long infomercial with some valuable content, July 6, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Idiot Proof Archery: How to Shoot Like a Pro-Step by Step (Even If You Have a Real Job!) (Hardcover)
Bernie wrote the second-best book on target shooting with compound bows (the best is James Park's "Mastering Compound Bows," which is about to get an ISBN number). While Bernie's book can be an annoying infomercial at various times, pushing his various products, there is no doubt that contains valuable information, particularly for Vegas-style (18m) indoor spot shooting, so it is well worth a read. The best aspect of this book is its diagnostic pictures which help one detect mistakes in their form.

The best book in archery is on the topic of recurve bows, and this is Rick McKinney's "The Simple Art of Winning."

The author is a NFAA master coach and does a nice job of uncovering a lot of misconceptions about archery as well as pointing out many of the things that are often overlooked that will help your game. This book has a lot of great information but unfortunately it lacks an index. It is mostly geared for the compound target archer, however, there is also a nice section covering 3D and bowhunting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Idiot Proof Archery, September 11, 2003
This review is from: Idiot Proof Archery: How to Shoot Like a Pro-Step by Step (Even If You Have a Real Job!) (Hardcover)
Excellent how to book, especially if you can not find a local coach and can learn things by reading. I learned one thing in the first reading that helped reduce fatigue and let me shoot longer practice sessions. I bought his Can't Punch Release which really helped me "safely" learn back tension. Other can't punch releases would likely do the same. The Laser trainer doesn't get much use but then I can shoot almost every day outside. I have read and re-read the book and learn something each time. Great algorythym on how to measure draw length. A liitle too much promotion of products but not to the extreme of witholding content. I sense some peer animosity in other readings but Bernie has implemented the "Inner Archery" which helps you exercise the subliminal success engine in everyone. Focus on the outcome and the process will adapt to produce the result.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitive and enjoyable, January 6, 2008

This review is from: Idiot Proof Archery: How to Shoot Like a Pro-Step by Step (Even If You Have a Real Job!) (Hardcover)
I had reached a plateau. I had made steady improvement with daily practice, then could not seem to improve any further. When this book arrived, I stopped shooting and read it through. Bernie was very convincing about not only what to do, but why to do it his way. It is also entertaining to read. Just one of his tips made an immediate improvement. Following his plan, I have a blueprint about how to make steady improvement. Some readers have criticized this book claiming that Bernie is just trying to sell his products. I didn't find that at all. He offers his products, and explains how they work, but does not insist that you "must" have them. In fact he criticizes the archery industry for pushing products rather than coaching good tecnique.
I will not let this book go. I have already referred back to it numerous times to hone my skills. This book does not make archery easy, but it does give you a plan and hope for becoming better - with a lot of work. I recommend this book to archers of all experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only way to shoot archey., May 9, 2007
This review is from: Idiot Proof Archery: How to Shoot Like a Pro-Step by Step (Even If You Have a Real Job!) (Hardcover)
The best book anyone could buy to learn archery. The only cure for target panic you'll ever find. After 25 years of archery hunting and tournaments, I've read most of the books out there and nothing else is even close. Rich

Great source of information on how deal with target panic. Would also recommend the book for beginners. It can help a lot with learning a good form and doing things right from start instead of dealing with a bad form and relearning how to shoot later.

This review is from: Idiot Proof Archery: How to Shoot Like a Pro-Step by Step (Even If You Have a Real Job!) (Hardcover)
This book is the best coverage on proper bow form and how to shoot correctly I have read. It is a breath of fresh air not to be reading maunfacturers exaggerations and just plain incorrect information. Instead the author tells it like it is and should be.

I highly recommend this book to any archer that wants to improve their shooting ability and more importantly new archers that want to learn the right way to shoot a bow before learning bad habits.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much ego and infomercials, July 15, 2008
This review is from: Idiot Proof Archery: How to Shoot Like a Pro-Step by Step (Even If You Have a Real Job!) (Hardcover)
I got this book based on the lots of good reviews but after some time reading it I was really annoyed by all the ego demonstration and by the informercials.

If you could take out the book his "catalog" of products and his "I did this", "I created that" and "look how brilliant I'm" things, this book would be less than a half of its size, besides cheaper.
