Sun sail shades are ideal for gardens, entryways, children's play area, patios and pools. Constructed of high density polyethylene weave fabric, it blocks 95% of the sun's dangerous UV rays while "breathing" to allow air to circulate and keep the environment underneath much cooler. With its breathable design it will also allow water to filter through. It is color fast and won't rot, mildew or mold. Shade Sails can be easily attached with its corner D-Ring. Assembled size is 11 feet 5 inches each side

(Correction: This review should be for the 16', we also bought this 11'5", same princible, there's a third diamention to consider.)This is working out great for us. Cuts the heat off the deck considerably but allows plenty of light to shine through.
You'll have to get creative with the installation process. I used bugee cords to connect to rain gutter spikes, then roped the single side out to a tree. It flexes a little, and will sag some at different times but then retracts again.
Very big at 16 feet end to end, the third side is about 13 feet out to the tree. Because it's a triangle it still can allow unblocked sun to shine on your plants or even allow your bbq grill uncovered space.
My deck is 15 feet x 8 feet.

We are totally pleased with this product. The price is great, and the hardware looks like stainless steel - very surprised. The fabric is unexpectedly high quality, and I believe is should last almost as long as products selling for five times the price or more. Everything arrived nicely packaged in a zipper storage bag, including all hardware.
One suggestion, consider mounting the unit with elastic shock-cords to dampen the effect of wind gusts using products similar to these Amazon straps:
Radiator Specialty R722B Tarp Anchor And Tie Down Strap
If you use these elastic straps know they will probably need to replacement once a year, but I have found they greatly extend the life of all tarp type systems.
We plan on ordering another unit as well.

I work in office with hellish overhead fluorescent lighting that I have no control over because it is shared with a large space. I bought this sail for about $18 on Amazon and stretched it across my office cubicle (which is about 18'6" x 8'2" and one among many in a very long, very wide divided hallway) using pin-style curtain hooks to pin it to the tall partition walls. I've had it, at this writing (2/1/12) up over a month and it has meant blessed relief from the endless glare, the daily headaches, eyestrain...the inability to see my computer screens. People stop by and comment how my office looks like a desert tent or a tropical cabana and I am very, very happy to have found this solution.
