The Other Lindsay Anderson,
By Karen Loo. (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If (Dig) (Audio CD)
Let me start by saying that no, this Lindsay has no relation to the British filmmaker Mr. Lindsay Anderson that directed a movie called "If..." Ironically, that is the title of Miss Anderson's first solo album. Lindsay Anderson has been a member of L'Altra for years and is now taking the time to explore her personal visions. And she does so quite well.
"If" is a chamber pop album of grace and maturity. Lindsay's worldly voice guides us through realms of soulful piano, cosmic strings, homely acoustic, and lithe percussion. Songs like "The Sea and the Storm" sound cuddly and reflective while "Two Steps" is powerful and heavy, almost rock out worthy. Lindsay manages to make dark and moody sound sweet and appeals to those of both temperaments.

Believe, breathe and "Go Into the Sun!",
By Sunny (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If (Dig) (Audio CD)
IF you are looking for an experience as serene as a sunset cruise around a small, country lake or IF your pleasure is a meandering, autumn hike through a blazing, yellow forest; "If" will take you there and to other places that you may have forgotten were playful and plentiful. Lindsay Anderson composed, directed, arranged, played and sang all tracks of this intricately carved cycle of life - each piece a reflection of classically rich, warm, child-like innocence with overtones of soulful blues, pop-rock, and sweet seduction. Believe, breathe and "go into the sun!" Eleanor Roosevelt said it too. "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

Lovely,
By Ellis O'Keefe "writer and reader" (Chicago) - See all my reviews

I've always loved L'Altra, but this is an exciting departure. There's something fuller and more intimate about the sound. The album begs to be listened to on phones--the production is artful and delicately layered. Her voice is like Julie Doiron but a bit more subdued. A sexy, interesting album!
