About the Author

Ann Ashford was born in 1939 in Hannibal, Missouri, and raised on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1961 and was a United Methodist church workerofr migrants in Texas, a welfare case worker in Atlanta, a teacher, an actress, and vice-president of a family-owned fund-raising consulting firm. She died in 1988.

Bill Drath was born in 1915 in Wisconsin. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he served in the army during World War II (earning a Bronze Star) and in the Korean War, retiring in 1966 as a lieutenant colonel. In addition to IF I FOUND A WISTFUL UNICORN, Drath also illustrated WHEN SOMEONE DIES, WILLOWCAT AND THE CHIMNEY SWEEP, and SOUTHERN IS . . . . He died in 1991.

My father gave me this book in 1986 for Valentine's Day because he "could not express any better how he felt." I still get the same warm feeling when I read it. I feel connected to the story because it highlights the quirky mysteries of the world and the wonder of honest and true human relationships! Every person should be so lucky to read it!

My friend gave this to me as a Christmas present. It was one of the most touching gifts I've ever recieved. It's a book with some cute humor and a lot of heart. Great for children. (I would've enjoyed looking for the unicorn on every page when I was really little) And it is wonderful for any age, because it makes you feel loved. and everyone needs to feel loved.

If you love someone, big or small, this is the perfect gift for them. This is the sweetest token of love you could give someone. I have given a copy to all of my friends and family. My mom was sick and in a coma several years ago and I read this to her everyday...she is alive and well today. If you are looking for that special something for someone you love this is exactly what you are looking for. It radiates love and will bring tears to your eyes.
