A LIFETIME EDUCATION IN ONE BOOK.,
By A Customer
This review is from: If I Grow Up: Talking With Teens About AIDS, Love And Staying Alive (Paperback)
I had the amazing opportunity to meet Scott Fried a few weeks ago at a convention. His story told through his lecture changed my life since it hit so close to home. I've had to face the challenges of coping with the loss of someone very close to me to AIDS. I had a 15 minute conversation with Scott in which he gave me so much confidence. Scott if you read this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your words and your book. I read it in one day, but I keep reading it over and over again. It's a must read for everyone to learn about how AIDS affects people. And the fact of the matter is that AIDS affects all people, whether you are positive or negative. Read this book and give it to all of your friends! I am only allowed to give it 5 stars in rating, but it's way off the charts! Thank you Scott for everything!

Scott Fried...a real person,
By A Customer
This review is from: If I Grow Up: Talking With Teens About AIDS, Love And Staying Alive (Paperback)
Scott Fried is not only an amazing person, but a real person. By this I mean, I have met Scott, at a lecture of his in Boston. I have read multiple books about AIDS and the HIV virus but being able to associate a face with the name helps so much. Scott is living proof that you can live with AIDS. His book, If I Grow Up: Talking with Teens About AIDS, Love & Staying Alive is one which I will continue to read multiple times. This is because it has real people who I can associate with, because they are closer to me in age, even though I don't have AIDS. I like this novel and reccomend it to any person living in a world where there is a sickness called AIDS, meaning everyone.

A must read for every parent and every teenager!,
By A Customer
This review is from: If I Grow Up: Talking With Teens About AIDS, Love And Staying Alive (Paperback)
This book encompasses not only the thoughts of the author who must live each day with HIV, but also with the thoughts of teens who contemplate what that kind of life is. By the author merging his views with those with whom he has spoken, the reader feels part of a living room conversation (albeit some of the conversations take place out on a lake in a row boat!). The insights shared are vital for parents of teenagers as well as for those teenagers who hope to one day become parents.

Best book for teenagers on AIDS,
By A Customer
This review is from: If I Grow Up: Talking With Teens About AIDS, Love And Staying Alive (Paperback)
I am a high school sophomore and have read many books and articles on AIDS, most of which aren't very memorable. But this book is different. This book inspired me to think about my life and how to value each day. Mr. Fried has found a way to give each teenager a voice. Including me! I think it can save lives.

Scott Fried is a very special man! Heard him speak last year - was so moved - have read his books, listened to his lecture CD and have listened to his musical CD only about 300 times!
He has a new book coming out too - [...] He has a very special way of speaking to a group of 500 people and making every single one of us feel like he's talking directly to us. Thanks Scott for being you!! DDK

Life Changing,
By Jake Brown (Cheltenham, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If I Grow Up: Talking With Teens About AIDS, Love And Staying Alive (Paperback)
This past weekend I attended a Jewish Social Action weekend with 100 others hoping to have a good time and try to change the world around me and bring smiles to peoples faces. I had no idea that in the course of this weekend I would get to hear a man named Scott Fried speak. Scott Fried is one of the most amazing people I have met in my life. This book doesn't just tell the story of Scott Fried, a Jewish Homosexual from New York, it tells the story of what we all feel inside. It explains the values of self-respect and knowing that you are sacred. It pushes you to look deep within your self, and find the person you are not the person you want others to see. I would highly recommend that all of you get a chance to hear Scott in person because it truly is a life changing experience. I borrowed this book from a family member, and though it was painful, I read every one of Scott's words. The bravery and courage it took to record so much pain should be looked upon as heroism. This book is a must read for anyone who feels as though they are hiding something (and that is all of us).

Incredible Book by Incredible Speaker,
By Jon DeSantis (Philadelphia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If I Grow Up: Talking With Teens About AIDS, Love And Staying Alive (Paperback)
This book discussed the facts of life that the great majority of us would like to ignore. It is not only personal, but extremely factual as well. I had the extreme pleasure of watching Scott speak, and it was a life changing experience. Intrigued, I purchased the book not knowing what to expect. What I got was a soul searching book that not only educated me on a myriad of different subjects, but most importantly educated me about the will to survive. It taught me about how one man had overcome so much, and how willing he was to share his feelings for the benefits of others. This is written with excellent grace and bravery. It is recommended for anyone who is not afraid to look within themselves after read how one man did.
