Copyright or no?,

Joe Satriani is currently suing Coldplay for copyright infringement, as their song "Viva la Vida" quotes directly from this song. You can literally place one song over the other and match up melody and rhythm of each.

Too good not to steal,

Satriani tears it up as usual, the song is great without the faux-deep lyrics Coldplay slaps on top. Weaker, less creative musicians borrow music from better artists all the time. The decent ones pay royalties and give credit where credit is due. Hacks like Coldplay and the Verve try to get away with tagging it as their own and selling it to the popsters who are too young to recognize the original. I'm sure the added publicity isn't hurting, but at the end of the day Coldplay needs to pay up for the success they had using Joe's song.

This guy must have friends/producers writing these reviews for the purpose of garnering more momentum with his suit against coldplay. I downloaded this song with the sole intention of doing a comparison.First of all, the song sucks. It's a cheesy instrumental with little backbone or originality. Yes, joe, you played a ton of notes in there, but that doesn't give you the right to attempt to tarnish the reputation of coldplay. Second, the only real similarity between this song and Viva La Vida is two sustained notes. That's it. I would never have even heard of Joe Satriani if it weren't for him making a stink about this. With coldplay having written numerous songs with such high musical merit, you have to ask yourself, why would they even think to have to steal a song from a cheeseball artist? You should have listened to your conscience, Joe, and not the producers and lawyers that saw an opportunity to make some green. You're case will flop in court, by the way.
