Honest and well written,
By
This review is from: If I Just Breathe (Paperback)
Few things are more frightening than being told that you have cancer. Anyone who has heard those words firsthand will be stuck on page 13 of this book for a bit, remembering the moments before and after that diagnosis was delivered to you.
In that regard, it doesn't take long for the reader to be assured of three things: this author knows how to write, her message is genuine, and that message is well worth reading. Tina openly shares the hopes, fears, thoughts, and feelings that she experienced. Young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are sure to drawn to the book naturally, but I'd recommend it for family members, as well. Tina does a wonderful job of putting into words some important things that a person with cancer may not be able to express in the midst of the crisis.

Incredible first-person account of an profoundly difficult situation,
This review is from: If I Just Breathe (Paperback)
Incredibly well written book that details the most intimate details of Tina's (You will also feel like you are on a first name basis with this wonderful author by the time you finish the novel) struggle with breast cancer. As someone who has known women that have been through similar struggles in the past, I would recommend this book to all women, as well as all men who have women in their lives enduring a similar struggle.
The details regarding how Tina finally found out about her cancer (after other doctors failed to find it) will provide necessary lessons that all women should learn. I do not want to disclose too much about the book, but needless to say, it is a fantastic story. Please support this courageous woman.

Remarkable in every way...........,
This review is from: If I Just Breathe (Paperback)
An author friend of mine (rmLamatt) lent me this book and from the moment I opened it, I was held captive. The story addresses a number of issues that I embrace: preventive health care; being one's own health advocate; having the convictions to question a medical diagnosis; and the fact that a "memoir" is not always boring and uninteresting to anyone outside its particular venue.
Tina relates in a very understandable manner the events leading up to the time that, after inexcusable medical oversights, she is finally diagnosed with breast cancer. Her writing ability is exceptional for a first-time author and the tragedy of the story is handled without undue self-pity. She tells it like it was. She showed strength of character unusual in persons older than she, by pursuing the issue, when very respected physicians had assured her that she did NOT have breast cancer. No one is infallible.......even doctors in training hospitals. The book is moving, inspirational and instructional. Let it "capture" you.

A Powerful, Personal Story,
By John Evans "Texas writer" (San Antonio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If I Just Breathe (Paperback)
If I Just Breathe is a powerful, personal story about one young woman's struggle with aggressive breast cancer. My own wife is a breast cancer survivor, so I could identify with the heartache, emotions, and turmoil experienced by Tina Koral. In fact, I would say that this book is especially appropriate for anyone who is facing a similar struggle. It also provides powerful testimony about the need to be persistent in seeking a conclusive medical diagnosis. Sometimes doctors get it wrong, and it's important for patients to remain their own best advocates.
The record of her deposition was suspenseful. I cannot imagine having to answer such questions, in so much detail, under these trying circumstances. I would also add that, though this is a personal story, the author is a fine writer. The book is fast-reading but makes a strong impact. I finished it in one sitting. If you know a young woman who is fighting breast cancer--or if you enjoy true stories about the triumph of the human spirit--I would get a copy of "If I Just Breathe".

Breast Cancer,

How does it feel to be detected with Cancer? Can we even imagine?
Tina has poured out those unimaginable feelings in this book. Death is inevitable but living every moment with the fear of the end is the most difficult thing to do in life. She shows us the way through this book how to accept the truth and fight against all hopes. A must read book for all people whose lives have been personally effected by breast cancer or in that case any cancer. 5 stars all the way.

A Great Book!,
By
This review is from: If I Just Breathe (Paperback)
In 'If I Just Breathe," Tina Koral has created a thoughful, perceptive, and painfully honest look at what goes through the mind and heart of a bright young woman who is forced to confront a deadly and unexpected disease. It's a compact, conversational, no-frills account of Koral's crash-course in how to deal with cancer's physical perils, debilitating treatments, humiliating side-effects, and the shadow that that disease casts over her hopes for a family. Koral's triumph over adversity - in particular the way she finds in her recovery a surprising resolution to her dysfunctional childhood - is both moving and inspirational. Read it!

The author bares her soul in this book and does a great job of describing her breast cancer struggle and its effects on her and her family. I recommend this book for anyone, especially young people, who are going through cancer or other illness. WOW What a book!!!,
By
This review is from: If I Just Breathe (Paperback)
I could NOT put this book down, had NO idea what it was like going through what Tina went through... It was so informative about how she didn't just sit back and let the cancer take over her life and feel sorry for herself...she DID something about it AND "took on" the doctors that told her she didn't have it in the first place! Bravo Tina! When's your NEXT book coming out???!!!
