Peter Fogel's book, If Not Now... Then When?, is a book that fires on all cylinders. I'm an avid reader and I like to read personal development books and this little tome caught me a little by surprise. Since I'm not over 40, I thought that this book would not be for me. I was wrong. Plainly and simply, I was very wrong.

Mr. Fogel has a way of dovetailing the stories of real people who reinvented themselves with lessons we can all learn--no matter what age we are. While the tales do deal with reinvention, as in people massively changing the direction of their life, it's also about rekindling the dreamer within us and reaching for what could be and should be.

The best thing about this book is that it is not pedantic. Mr. Fogel does not approach the subject matter with that smuggish guru-ness that is so prevalent in personal development books. It's more like he's a guide and he's pointing at the peoples' stories and saying, "See? See? See what's possible? And you can do it, too!"

I learned a lot from this book and I am sure that many people will, too. I latched onto it because it shows what a little effort and planning and dreaming can bring into one's life. In a few words, it gives one hope. Plus, it also gives one the confidence to take that shot whether you are reinventing or just inventing in the first place.

Reading Peter's story and the stories that he shares throughout this well-crafted book surely will help you move forward with your own personal breakthrough. It has helped me along in my own journey. The book is motivating, inspiring and entertaining.

Peter Fogel's book is a refreshing mix of stories told in an entertaining and thoughtful way. Peter shows that sometimes reinventing yourself isn't because you are trying to overcome tragedy or hardship in your life. Reinvention and change are for everyone. Peter's interviews show a whole spectrum of reasons to reinvent yourself along with advice on how to do it. What are YOU waiting for!

i was disappointed in that i hoped the various people whose stories were told would be a) more interesting and b) would show examples i could use ... having said that ... the end part where bob bly explains about how to get out of a slump is good reading...

I would have preferred to borrow this book from the library rather than having invested in it. It's not a book I would read again when I need a pick-me-up.

I knew Peter Fogel when we were both teenagers attending a performing arts summer camp in upstate New York. I lost touch with him over a quarter-century ago until I discovered his new book "If Not Now...Then When?..." We are now both "forty-somethings," so Peter's words really are coming from "the horse's mouth." The stories in his book will inspire you to go after your dreams, no matter how old you are. You will find, as I did, that Peter's keen wit and grand sense of humor are extremely uplifting. He will reaquaint you with the vim and vigor that you had when you were a child - and give you plenty of laughs along the way.

Peter's book came along when I just started my own reinvention. What wonderful inspiration to read stories of people who struggled much harder than I've had to. The inclusion of "How-to-do-it" steps is a tremendous help in keeping me on track. Thanks for the boost in my own journey!

If not now--- then when?

This is a book about a deeply serious subject, which was written in a delightfully lighthearted manner by a man who knows how to get a point across and at the same time make it entertainment.

Mr. Peter Fogel has been a standup comic for so many years that he just reflexively thinks funny and humor comes across on every page of this most somber subject, the subject of reinventing one's self. Never an easy task but one made easier by reading the stories of those who have taken the challenge and reconfigured their lives by a hundred and eighty degrees.

It's a great read. There were times that I just had to put it down (I can't stand a screaming woman in the background) but couldn't wait to get back to it. There were times I knew I had to stop reading (the screaming just got too loud) but would peek ahead to see how many pages were left on the person I was reading about and then just gave myself the luxury of finishing the segment(the bathroom is my sanctuary).

I was sad when it ended and I hope Peter follows up with something similar in the future.

Wow!!

What a sensational book In this ever-changing world it is so important stay in front of Herd. Peter's book on how to reinvent yourself, "If Not NOW then WHEN." Couldn't have come at a better time for me .This book puts things in perspective. I used to live by doing what I HAD to do at a MAXIMUM and what I WANTED to do at a minimum, this book will change that formula for you.

Its like when your a kid and you strike out. You Get a DO OVER!!! (Adult DO OVERS Who Knew)
