5.0 out of 5 stars This book proves Geri is the most talented of Spiceworld
This book is great, funny, amusing and even sentimental: thisis a must read book which had me coming back for more.

If Only is arefreshing breath of fresh air to all the media trash that is written about Geri all the time. At last with this book she has proved she can write a book as good as she can write her song lyrics.

If Only also answers the question "why...

2.0 out of 5 stars If Only...(I hadn't picked up this book)
So, I admit it. I read If Only. And I also admit that I cried. I wept mostly for the lost time, but I also shed a tear or two for the wasted potencial of this book. I'm not a Spice Girl fan, but I do admit that tumoltuous lives intrigue me. Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Geri Halliwell. The memoirs are rambling, redundant and incoherant. Between the fluff, however,...

If Only is arefreshing breath of fresh air to all the media trash that is written about Geri all the time. At last with this book she has proved she can write a book as good as she can write her song lyrics.

If Only also answers the question "why did you leave the spice girls?" And unfortunately your just gonna have to buy the book, and give something towards the breast cancer charities.

A funny, charming and inspirational insight into the life of Geri Halliwell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs up Geri Halliwell!, January 15, 2000
This review is from: If Only (Hardcover)
I read this book a few days ago and I couldn't put it down! Geri Halliwell is a brutallly honest and frank person ,one who isn't afraid to tell you about the more embarrasing parts of her life.I found her to be very down to earth and a very funny person. In short, she is REAL! She tells an excellent tale of her claim to fame, including the ups and downs. For those of us who like to read about famous people Geri has given us a book that I'm sure anyone can relate to.She tells it with humour, sadness and honesty, even telling the world about her eating disorder. What made me like this woman so much is that even after all the bitterness and nasty comments that seem to have surfaced from the other Spices,Geri maintains a friendly approach towards other members of the band. This could have been the ideal opportunity for Geri to have her say but she remains a lady and doesn't slag off the other girls.Good to see that she is using her fame in a positive light. Good on you Geri for opening up to us and giving us an excellent insight into one of the worlds most succesfull bands!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK!!, October 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: If Only (Hardcover)
A book capturing the life and times of Geri Halliwell. A Spice fan may love this book as well but it proves to be a full-force autobiography on the woman formerly known as Ginger Spice.

I would not recommend this book to kids, because the truth does hurt. Ginger Spice was a part of the character known as Geri Halliwell. The book shows many different viewpoints of her life. From nieve English girl to a confident superstar. From being a former glamour (nude) model to a television presenter, maybe the suburban moms/dads might want to flip through the heavily detailed pages before they let their kids read it.

The book "If Only" is very down-to-earth and contains so many subjects that each of us readers could relate to. After the book triggered many memories of my own, I couldn't help to think - Dreams really do come true.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Role Model?, September 29, 2000

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: If Only (Hardcover)
This book depicted the life to date of Geri Halliwell from rag to riches. It told me the other aspect of Geri that I never knew. It's saddening to note that behind the limelight, she was a shattered person, wanting reassurance from her loved ones. Her growing pains were enormous & should I have a daughter like her, I would have died of heart attack. It's comforting to know that she knows when to turn back & time has definitely molded her into a persona which Madonna would be proud of. The highlight of the book would have to be her telling us the formation of the team which would subsequently be known universally as the Spice Girls, thus, the term, Girl Power. We also have a glimpse of the eventual sacking of their Manager, Simon Fuller & the reason why Geri decided to pull out in the end. The book is blessed with optimism ie. if you think you have the right stuff to make things happen, just do it as she's a living example that persistency does pay off. Probably luck has something to do with it but when it comes down to the crunch, attitude matters too. Thumbs up to her for her honesty & I wish her all the best for her future endeavour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, February 22, 2002
By
This review is from: If Only (Mass Market Paperback)
I was shocked on 1998 why she left the band and really with all the stories going on about when and how she left I could not get it until I bought this book. As I was reading the book ,and I was amazed how Geri opened her life in this book. I had to read the book twice because you just have to with this one but I did get it at the end and it was a really good book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Geri the novelist, February 27, 2000

This review is from: If Only (Hardcover)
Is there anything Geri Halliwell hasn't done, she's had a multi selling paltinum album, 2 UK number 1 hits, she's been an ambassador of the UN and now has written a bestseller. If Only shows Geri's life before Spice. The way she coped with school, work, her father death, bulimia and how desperately she wanted to be famous. It's s touching book about her life and I'd advise any Geri fan to buy it. Even if you're not paricularly fond of Geri, her book will have you in fits of laughter as well as making you cry. Go buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars IF ONLY I CAME ACROSS THIS BOOK EARLIER!, January 23, 2000

Geri Halliwell deserves a standing ovation. Iam not a huge fan of the spice girls and was a bit unsure about this book thinking that it would be aimed for teenage readers.Geri really poors her heart out in this book over very personal issues , and takes the reader on a tour down the road she walked all the way to where she is today. I applaud her with her honesty in this book , and on some of the photos that she included in the book , photos in which she was subject to alot of criticism, a classic tale of "the past came back to haunt her" I truly admire her for her courage. All spice girls fans and non-fans will enjoy this book thoroughly and would not want the book to finish. When I started to read this I could not put it down and I was up reading this book up to 3:30 am every morning and I had to force myself to put it down so I could got to sleep.

Though I was never a huge Spice Girls fan I could just about tolerate them. From what I saw in the news and on t.v Geri was the one I least liked. When she realeased the book, I thought I would read it, to try and get a better picture of her. Well I'm now half way through the book and I cannot put it down. It is a fantastic easy read book that I'm sure almost any one would love!

5.0 out of 5 stars If Only Everybody Can Read This Book, December 21, 1999

Wicked! This is a great book.....nobody could think that someone like Geri Halliwell(so gorgeous and famous) could suffer bulimia and should live with many problems, like she did..... I love the book and I think everybody must read it,it fills you with good vibrations and possitive energy.....and it shows you that you can dream as high as you want, because even the most unimaginable dream can come true..... The book showed me also why we have to keep chasing the goals that we have, because we must to make our life better.....we must to have a goal(it's the way to prove to ourselves what we can do)and we are the only person that can do it(we have to make it for ourselves) Well, the last thing that this book showed me is that we must to live every day(and every moment)being happy, because maybe it's the last day in our lives.....and,to live happy,we must to try to reach our goals and dreams
