If only everyone knew how much they mean to us, the world would be a much better place. This book is simplistic, yet incredibly deep, in that it touches the reader to the very core and is forthright and to the point of what we ALL need to keep first and foremost in our minds in the treatment of those around us. I am purchasing more copies to give to those I care for, as I just came across the copy I gave to my husband two years ago and reread it. The worlds are so refreshingly true, and it is sure to be a treasured keepsake for all who receive it. Putting a nice inscription on the inside cover makes the book even more personal and treasured. It can be found for less than $10 at many places, which is what I paid for it at Hallmark years ago, so price is NOT an issue or excuse to slam this simply wonderful book. God bless!

If only I Knew by Lance Wubbels is a book that tries to help us to appreciate the special people who are in our lives. It is about thinking about every moment we spend with others as sacred and as a gift. The book challenged me to think about the reality that we live in an uncertain world, a world where we may not have another chance to say a kind word or do a kind act for someone we love.

Wubbles writes in his introduction that as he was writing this book the fourteen year-old son of a friend of his left home on his yellow bicycle and was hit in a street crosswalk by a car. He writes, "The driver, a sixteen-year-old young man, was distracted and somehow never even saw Spencer until he hit the windshield. In that tragic moment a boy's life vanished like a mist, leaving behind a grieving mother who obviously loved him with all her heart."

The book, which is beautifully illustrated, is filled with many reminders and challenges to appreciate every moment we have with those we love. For example, he writes, "If only I knew ... this was our final kiss, I would use it to tell you that you are the love of my life."

And in another page he writes, "If only I knew ... I would never hear your voice again, I would cherish your every word ... every inflection of your voice ... with all my heart."

If only I knew is a great book to reflect on how special and precious our friends, family and loved ones are to us.

I discovered this book when my husband died in Oct 28.2011. I was in shock and when I found this book I thought it would be nice to read, Well when I got home I began reading it in Dec 2011, it took me a yr but the reason why it took so long was because I used it as a way of putting my thoughts on paper, Each page was used to 'talk' to my husband and express what I could not say in person any longer. I have come across ppl struggling to come to terms with their grief. I bought it when it was $12 . I have a couple of other books from Wubbels and will write in those as well. I am saving them for my grandkids to read so they will 'know' their grandpa, I am writing a book about my late husband to let them know him. Ty so much Mr. Wubbels

This book is amazing!! The way it came into my hands was amazing! I had just had a heated political conversation with my eldest son (we weren't mad with one another, I just felt unsettled) and I went to the store to pick up a prescription. This book was just laying on an endcap, caught my eye and I just bought it. A few hours after getting home I read the book...I am not a 'crier' but this book had tears literally flowing down my cheeks. This book had such a profound impact on me that the very same day I went and had the words "If only I knew" on my forearm as a constant reminder that right and wrong mean nothing when, for lack of a better phase, the rubber hits the road. Another amazing! That evening my son called and as his way, I think, of trying to defuse the situation began asking me questions about his father who passed away suddenly last year. He asked me questions like; do you think Dad would be proud of the man I am; even though he was in a coma, do you think he could hear me when I told him how much I loved him? I told him that his Dad knew that he loved him, yes, his father could hear him, and our course, his father is very very proud of him. He actually listened...I decided I am going to mail the book to him. He is married, a father of one and one on the way, and his wife has implied to me that she thinks he spends too much time at work...perfect book for my beloved son! This book COULD change the way you look at everyone in your life!

This is the most beautiful book that has touched my heart. My husband gave this book to me over 5 years ago when we were going through struggles. Each time I read it, I cry. One of my favorite pages says, "If Only I Knew...How little I actually understood about you, I would listen closer to your words, search our your thoughts, and seek to know the deepest desires of your heart."

This is a precious book for all who receive to cherish.

This book is a small, inexpensive hardback. I purchased my copy at Walgreens Drug Store. The pages of the book have one or two sentences, with a simple photograph. Although it is very touching, it is not worth more than two or three dollars, especially used. I think I paid $12.00 for it new. That was because I needed an inexpensive gift. It has lovely sentiments, as many Hallmark cards contain. Actually, it is just like a compilation of ten, or so, Hallmark cards. It is a major rip-off to pay the amount the used book sellers are charging.
