Book Description

October 18, 2005
Welcome to Spring Farm, where animals and people come together -- to explore their own natural ability to communicate with each other....

Something magical is happening on a small farm in upstate New York. Animals of all shapes and sizes are living side by side -- talking, listening, learning, and loving -- along with caring people who have come to learn the secrets of interspecies communication. It's a gift that all of us are born with, as long as we're willing to open our hearts and minds to the gentle creatures who share our world.

This is what happened at Spring Farm when two very special women gave shelter to animals that were sick or abandoned. As trust and affection grew between them, so did their capacity to exchange feelings and thoughts. Today, the miracle of Spring Farm CARES is shared through communication workshops for visitors, students, and animal lovers. So come discover the magic of Spring Farm. Humans are more than welcome....

You'll meet Ricardo the duck, who explains that he won't leave his warm nest in a nearby chimney even if the house owners disapprove...Chubby the horse, who shares her feelings of despair when her barn catches fire...Elvis the kitten, who wiggles like a rock star...Sugar the Shetland pony, who dedicates a poem to her long-lost herd...and a whole menagerie of mouse-friendly cats, loving llamas, gregarious guinea pigs, delightful dogs, and other amazing critters.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

In the bucolic farmland nestled at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York lies a haven for a veritable ark's worth of horses, goats, llamas, ducks, dogs, cats, and sheep. Known as Spring Farm CARES, the sanctuary enjoys a worldwide reputation for its groundbreaking work in interspecies communication. Situated on Reynolds' family farm, the center began innocently enough. Some animals came as pets; some were strays; some were rescued from situations of neglect and abuse. They all had one thing in common, however: each had a story to tell, and tell it they did. Cofounder Hayman, who began working at Spring Farm as a gardener, soon realized she was blessed with the ability to telepathically communicate with the creatures around her. With each challenge and catastrophe they faced, this talent became central to the survival of animals and humans alike. In an uplifting story of selfless dedication and limitless compassion, the authors offer entertaining and convincing insight into the minds of our animal companions. Carol Haggas

I could not put the book down! After having attended the workshops and gone back to Spring Farm over the years it is nice to have the whole story of how it came into existance. The place is pure magic! If you are looking for a book of triumph over adversity for both animals and humans, this is it. And yes, the animals and humans can communicate as indicated in the book. It is a wonderful book and I look forward to the next chapter of this amazing place.

Animal lovers everywhere will enjoy this poignant story of two woman and how they discover (quite by accident) the amazing world of animal communication through telepathy. The evolution of their rescue ranch, Spring Farm CARES is detailed, with all the hurdles and miracles along the way. A must read for all who KNOW our animals speak to us and understand what we say to them, as well as a great persuader for those who might be skeptical. Spiritually touching in ways you can't imagine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open your heart - - Miracles do happen!, December 2, 2005

This book is indeed nearly impossible to put down. The style of writing is simple and straight from the heart; the stories of struggles and triumphs, something we can all relate to. And anyone who has ever had an animal friend they have loved dearly will have little trouble accepting the fact that they can truly communicate when we simply learn to Listen. But what is most important, in my opinion, is the power this book has to open our hearts and minds to a world of inspiration and possibility when we tune into our inherant interconnectedness and allow ourselves to follow that winding journey off the beaten path by following our hearts - - Miracles happen!
