I see no one has reviewed this album yet, so... cool, I'm first.

I'm sure Dax himself, and his fans are all sick to death of comparisons between Acidbath and everything else Dax has done since Acidbath but it's got to be said... This is what Acidbath should have been.

Don't get me wrong, Acidbath is one of my all time favorites but "If this is Hell then I'm Lucky" is one for all Acidbath fans out there who loved that mellow, dark sound. Naturally, Dax's vocals are amazing, the music is dialed in, and the lyrics are as loaded with imagery and emotion as they've ever been. This almbum never actually "Picks up" But... That's not a problem here, the mood the album stays in is just right.

Sice I bought it, I've really listened to nothing else, and there's no sign of me getting bored with it anytime soon. 5 Stars.

It sure took me a while to try and Google the name of this album to see if they were selling it anywhere again. All I had for a couple of years were some nasty, 128kbps compressed MP3 files from a long-broken CD of this masterful work.

I can tell you point blank: it's the same album as the Deadboy & the Elephantmen version. every slow, plodding melody, every masterful change in tempo, every dark note that grabs you by the ears hook line and sinker. Yeah, it's all here, and boy it sounds great after listening to those compressed nasties for how many years.

It's a masterful, powerful album of rock that is far overlooked. Nab it now.

This album will not be for everyone. If you like atmospheric sound and rich lyrics then listen to this album. It has alway stuck with me since the first listen. This is the TRUE Deadboy and the Elephantmen album. I do enjoy their second album, but this is something totally different. Listen to it. If you can find and download this then do. I have found a couple different versions of a couple of their songs. These are just as great and very different from the originals.

I saw this musical event one night when their drummer didn't show up. Daks pulled off a once in a life time performance. I have the show on video and will cherish it forever. I was impressed with the drummer on the first time I saw the band play. But the acoustic version was the best to me. It was just raw and perfect with Daks hitting every note as usual. This album is the best from Daks Riggs. If you are a fan, this is for you. BUY IT AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. You want be disappointed.

There are some good ideas flowing throughout the rock singer/songwriter's output here, however a general grungy over-ambition keeps the album from being as good as it may think
