This review is from: If You Can't Stand the Heat (Audio CD)
i'll keep it short and sweet, while living in england i have experienced many bands befor ethey got big. i'm surprised that die hard quo fans haven't written the joys of this album. it's the most comercially accessable and is a great happy type pop album. every song is a winner. if you say you love the quosters than do youself a huge favor and get this pronto. just a highlight "layby lover" is a quo classic. do your ears a favor and get this gem.

Imo status quo had was at their peak during this period. They had been a cool psych rock/pop outfit with their first two discs from 68 and 69 and then in 1970 became a boogie hard rockin machine! This was in that mode but perhaps a little more with a pop edge , still this is not like their weaker period 1986-2000. ( which still had some cool songs but no great discs imo. This one had a few top hits like usual and was as enjoyable as their last release 'rocking all over the world' but it's just not as 100% solid perhaps. Still this hasn't a bad song on it if you are a quo fan or hard rock fan who likes a slight pop edge on some songs. Which I am , so that's good. However this isn't quite as good as 'whatever you want' or their previous releases, which are even better than this one. That being said this is still five star quo that rocked alot of people through 1978 and it is in their strongest period of music so grab the remaster , it's a better version for sure. (this one).
