3.0 out of 5 stars It was good, not the best....
The story line was so fast, I practically finished the book in one day. I think Ms. Byrd should have put a little bit more substance in this book.

Wow this book had it all. Mystery, suspense, and hot hot sex scenes. I'm so glad I came across this little gem while looking through Ms. Byrd's books. This book had so many surprises, and had me thinking on my toes, and shocked by the turn of events at times. Ms. Byrd had yet to disappointment me and I'd love to read a sequel featuring the Black's!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Sizzle, September 19, 2004

This review is from: If You Dare (Mass Market Paperback)
Adrianne Byrd knows what makes romance work: a terrific couple with lots of chemistry, a compelling situation and lots of dynamic plot twists to keep the reader turning page after page. If You Dare delivers them all with fast-paced, heart-thumping excitement. Angel and Damien are a steamy couple with the kind of memorable chemistry that makes them fascinating from their very encounter to their last. If You Dare takes the reader into the fascinating world of international art intrigue, coupled with more than enough sex appeal and sizzle to satisfy the most critical reader. A great book.

Ok this is a re-issue book that I read a few years ago; now that I have a kindle I had to buy it again.
This is seriously one of Adrianne Best! DON'T JUDGE a BOOK BY THE COVER.

This book has love, suspense, mystery and big cliff hangers Damien is a Art thief, not the cheap kind, the ones that can put you behind bars for many years, but someone is offering him the chance of a life time and he has retired? Ms Angel has her own secrets too, she is an Art Director see where this is going?
When they meet and fall in lust it's HOT from day one.
The whole book has you guessing and wondering did you miss something all the way to the end.

LOVE IT

I really enjoyed this book. It was a liltle different from the rest of her books but just like all her others it kept my attention from the beginning to the end.

This review is from: If You Dare (Mass Market Paperback)
For years Damien Black was known as LaFantome, one of the world's most ingenious art thieves. Whenever a priceless treasure was stolen, you could be sure that Damien was the culprit. And much to the dismay of law enforcement agencies worldwide, he has eluded capture. Deciding to get out while the getting is good, Damien retires and begins to live a legitimate lifestyle. Not long after his retirement, he is approached by an individual who wants him to pull one last heist at a local Atlanta Museum. The lure of the money and the thrill of the game are too much for Damien to pass up, so he agrees to the plan.

When he meets Angel Lafonte, the new director of the art museum, he is immediately attracted to her, but does not let that deter him from his mission. But when his feelings become deeper than a mere attraction, will Damien reconsider the offer? What will happen when Damien finds out who Angel really is, and her connection to the person behind the heist? How will Angel react when she finds out about Damien and his secret past?

IF YOU DARE iss a fast-paced, action-packed novel that will keep the reader guessing until the very end. The love scenes, which really complete the book, were so intense that whoever finds themselves reading this book, may also find themselves cuddling up to their significant other for a little romance of their own.

My sister raved to me about this book and I picked it up with a skeptical eye. But I have to hand it to miss Byrd, she had me at 'Hello Angel'. This is a fun and sexy book. I can only hope that there is sequel in the works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, September 3, 2004
This review is from: If You Dare (Mass Market Paperback)
This was one sexy book! I know I could use a Damien Black in my life. This story is about interesting people from seemingly different worlds. There's a crazy brother, an obsessed Frenchman, a five-time divorce side kick, and a stealth butler. Only Adrianne Byrd could take such an odd bunch of characters and come up with this real page turner. Get this book. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun contemporary romantic suspense, August 3, 2004
This review is from: If You Dare (Mass Market Paperback)
In Atlanta, Sean La Fonte wants art thief Damien Black to steal the Degas collection from Atlanta's High Museum of Art. Though retired, Damien visits the High Museum to case the joint when a rainstorm sends Angel racing inside the building. Damien and Angel talk but she refuses to give him her number. Without her knowledge, Damien switches cell phones with Angel so that she will have to call him. When she does, they agree to attend the Shafrazzi Charity Ball at twenty-five hundred dollars a ticket.

Dangerous Tevin Merrick arrives at Sean's restaurant to discuss the latter's gambling debt. They also converse how they will split up the loot from a planned art heist when Angel enters her brother's office. Tevin offers to write off Sean's debt if Angel becomes his mistress. Desperate Sean agrees, but loathes himself for selling the only person he cherishes. Sean asks Angel to date Tevin as a favor, but she refuses. She insists she is no one's whore, but also knows she loves Damien. However, someone steals a Rubens masterpiece with Damien being the prime suspect and then there is Tevin who will not accept no from Angel.

This exciting art of love tale stars two delightful protagonists that hook the reader the moment they first meet. The deep support cast enables the audience to understand what motivates the lead characters. However, the heroine's overly protective brother "selling" her is out of character for him when it comes to his sibling and ethical questions involving the stealing of art to sell to private collectors abound. Still, IF YOU DARE is a fun contemporary romantic suspense that fans will appreciate.
