5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, children's music that doesn't drive adults crazy
We bought this album for our baby after hearing about it on NPR. We enjoy listening to the songs, and singing along with them. I am going to buy a copy for my son's daycare as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than most children's music
I bought this because of the song "Isabella." I have my own Isabella and the song is adorable and catchy, as are many of the songs on the album. When I Get to Eleven is my kid's favorite.

I don't love "Pizza and Chocolate Milk." The song is about a child who refuses to eat anything but junk, but no resolution ever comes and the song ends with him...

5.0 out of 5 stars What I Expected!!!, May 18, 2007
This review is from: If You Ever See an Owl (Audio CD)
For anyone who listens to the get up kids (r.i.p.) and the new amsterdams knows matt pryor is nothing short of remarkable with his vocals and his musical arrangements, now on to a new project where he mixes some new amsterdams with some robert munsch, its a childrens album for the ages.

If you like the New Amsterdams, and you have young kids, this cd is perfect for them. It is silly and playful and very imaginative. I have a one year old nephew that I bought this for, but listen to it myself.

We own at least 25 "kid" CDs between my two kids with everything from Laurie Berkner to They Might Be Giants to Disney CDs and lesser known artists. This one is my 2 year old's favorite right now though. She calls it "Ladybug music" because the first song is Ladybug and she asks for it every day. Thankfully it's not at all annoying like a lot of kid CDs so I don't mind listening to it with her. I LOVE the song "Grumpy Bug." I learned all the words to it and added it into our mix of songs I sing to the kids as lullabies at bedtime. My 5 year old requests I sing that one to him almost every night.

My husband, my kids, and me love The Terrible Twos! The songs on this album are fun and witty. The kids were singing along after listening to the album only a handful of times! This is some fun kid music that I can bear. No longer do I have to turn off the front speakers in the minivan so I don't go screaming through a parking lot over the kid's music. We can all sing and be goofy with The Terrible Twos!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, Fun, Great Kids' Music, October 13, 2009

This is one of my (2-year-old) daughter and my favorite CDs. It's just the right mix of sweetness and coolness at the same time. Totally appropriate for kids, yet fun for adults, too. The lyrics are entertaining and not repetitive or "dumbed down," and they're easy to sing along with. My daughter gets such a kick out of "Smickey."

This frequently makes it to our breakfast playlist. It's a great way to start the day!

4.0 out of 5 stars Explicitly for kids!, January 1, 2009
This review is from: If You Ever See an Owl (Audio CD)
Not sure why the songs on this disk are marked explicit. We have Ladybug and Susanne and neither has any inappropriate content. I tried to research that before downloading them but couldn't find anything so I wanted to share with others that this is AOK for kids.

A lot of parents want to find music for their kids that is more progressive than nursery rhymes and itsy bitsy spider. Well, I have found out that kids actually really like nursery rhymes and itsy bitsy spider. But I try anyway. I bought this because I like the Get Up Kids, and am happy to report that my 2 year old loves the first song "Ladybug", so much that we never get to hear the rest of the CD. I have listened to it all the way through without her though, and I quite like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you ever see an owl, February 23, 2008
This review is from: If You Ever See an Owl (Audio CD)
My girls love this CD - and I do too! A rare kid's CD with music that adults can enjoy too. It holds my girls attention and they sing along to the songs. It is great for my youngest - it is helping her language development.
We LOVE this CD!

I bought this because of the song "Isabella." I have my own Isabella and the song is adorable and catchy, as are many of the songs on the album. When I Get to Eleven is my kid's favorite.

I don't love "Pizza and Chocolate Milk." The song is about a child who refuses to eat anything but junk, but no resolution ever comes and the song ends with him pouting in his room. Not exactly something I want my kids humming along to.

Overall, the music is pretty good and won't wear you out with children singing off key or endless guitar strumming and fiddle playing. And it's not annoying KidzBop style as well. It's doesn't try to play dumb for the kids, and I appreciate that.

Most of what is available in children's music is HORRIBLE, so I would say this is definitely a few steps above that. Better than Laurie Berkner, but not as good as Marvelous Day by SteveSongs.
