Book Description

April 7, 2009
If brushing your teeth provides the only moment of the day when you’re truly alone and at peace, then this book is for you. Sure, you love your kids, but your pre-mom self—the one who savored a glass of wine after work and exercised on her lunch break instead of shopping for baby food—had its perks, too.

The “time-outs” in this book are for moms who love their kids but also long for a few minutes when they’ve got nowhere to be, no one to listen to, and no diapers to change. The authors have compiled 100 imaginative ways they and their friends—including such celebrities as Kelly Ripa and Jill Hennessy—spend their time when they have 10 luscious minutes to themselves. The suggestions for using your moments alone to the max run the gamut from sweet to satiric—treat yourself to a single, beautiful flower for your bedside table or play kickball with your son and punt the ball really, really far. Try surreptitiously rearranging your Netflix queue so your movies arrive before your husband’s and kids’ do. Browse for bling at Harry Winston. Or leave the kids to shop with your husband and slip into Brookstone for a rest in one of their giant massage chairs.

Every good mom deserves a break. This book is a start—to chuckle over with your friends or really use when you need a precious respite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Coffee Table Gift July 19, 2011
Format:Hardcover
I bought this book for my best friend who was about to be a first-time mommy and ended up reading it one night before bed. The short tips had me literally LOLing, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading how the celeb moms make time for themselves.

I ended up buying a second copy for my friend and keeping the first for myself. I have it displayed on a side table in my living room, and nearly every guest I have giggles after reading the title and picks it up to read a few pages. Would recommend to anyone as a great gift for all moms for everything from a thank you to a Mother's Day treat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Book - Every Mommy Should Have a Copy! June 15, 2009
Format:Hardcover
I absolutely LOVE this book! It's short, cute, witty, sassy, smart - and snarky on all the right pages! "If You Give a Mom a Martini..." is full of fantastic, recession-friendly tips (many Martini bliss tips cost absolutely nothing!) for making the most of your mommy alone-time. And a few tips even tell you how to find some. As a full-time working mom, I've really enjoyed flipping through this amazing book and choosing, in advance, what my next mommy "time-out" would be - I love spending time with my son, but I've learned that I'm a much better mom when I'm a happy mom! And I'm a happy mom after I've had my 10 blissful minutes....

I've already given "If You Give a Mom a Martini..." as a shower gift, as a gift to newly preggers moms-to-be, and as a gift just for mom once baby arrives (because mom needs a gift, too! baby gets so many...and they don't call it labor for nothing!). Everyone loves it!

What a fantastic idea. Can't wait for the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! May 7, 2009
By Kauf
Format:Hardcover
This book is a quick, easy and interesting read. I bought it for my sister as a Mother's Day present and started scanning a few pages. Next thing I knew I just kept going and finished the book. The book is certainly geared towards Moms, but is interesting and entertaining in its own right. There are a number of creative ideas. I highly recommend it and it will make a great Mother's Day gift or a great gift for any Mom!
