in a pawnshop in Petal , Mississippi...listened to it, DAMN , who are these guys??? The song Harley -Davidson is one of the best songs ever written....Finally discovered, it was Mr Capps who was the driving force behind Stavin Chain.I LIKE this CD too, it lacks some of the rawness of the 2 SC CDs, but its really really good. He is a soul-touching songwriter, and i rarely ever listen to words in songs, being a guitar player.I'm always listening for the tasty licks and these are here too !!! BUY THEM ALL !!!!! Marty

Grayson Capps transcends music genre's with his singing. Blues, rock, jazz, and country are all mixed together in his music and makes for wonderful songs you could listen to all day long. This CD is his first real "hit" I guess you could say unless you consider the soundtrack to "A Love Song for Bobby Long" where he has 3 songs and also appeared in the movie briefly. He is an amazing character from the south and has a voice unlike no other. This CD is littered with great songs through and through. "Get Back Up" and "I see You" are my two personal favorites although each one is brilliant. I hope to see more from him and look forward to watching him in person in the near future.

Saw Grayson live (solo) in Amsterdam on 12.12.2005 in the (in)famous PARADISO music temple.
I was invited for a birthday party: listen to some music and have a drink. Grayson "who", I wondered? Totally unknown to me. (sorry). I didn't have a clue what kind of music to expect.
And wow, I was in for more than a pleasant surprise. His performance is like a whirlwind of energy. He's a real shocker! RAW & PURE. A real rocker, a whisperer, a comedian, a critic, a romantic, a poet, and more... He sweeps you off your feet and takes you right into orbit. You feel alive and kicking and capable of anything. I'm sure I can now easily walk on water AND fly the skies fearless... (I'll keep you posted).
Grayson is a real diver into the soul. I'm still dizzy and in awe after a few days ;-)
In the meantime I listened to this album and I've been playing nothing else for the past 5 days. It's like a mantra, and great to meditate on. Still NOT bored one tiny bit.
Definitely in the same league as John Hiatt, Taj Mahal, Nick Lowe, Mickey Jupp & Willy deVille. Grayson's music sets your soul on fire.

He jumped off stage after the show and talked to us. Nice guy, just as human and mortal as each and everyone of us, and... incredibly friendly!
Grayson does a superb VENI-VIDI-VICI-act.
If you don't want to be touched in heart and soul, be warned, and don't buy this album and certainly avoid a live-performance.
I'm curious about the live-act with his band in the spring of 2006.

I bought the album after seeing the Movie A Love Song for Bobby Long. I was thrilled with this purchase. Every song on this album is stellar. I love Grayson Capps' raspy voice and poetic lyrics. New Orleans is one of my favorite places in the world, and this album takes me there...to the little whole-in-the-wall bars with music like you'll find nowhere else in the world. This is one of those albums that I'm still going to like after listening to it over and over again.

I first heard Grayson Capps when I purchased the soundtrack to "Love Song for Bobby Long". I love the sort of blues/folk/rock sound of his songs. The quality of his voice is earthy and sexy. If I had to compare him to someone, I'd have to say he is like a male Lucinda Williams. I also like his songs that evoke the south..Louisiana in particular...brings back memories of my childhood. I would definitely recommend this CD!

He calls it "Rott-n-Roll". What it is...is pure, raw, soulful music that comes from deep inside a very complex and compelling storyteller. He's a little bit poet, a little bit thespian and a whole lot of genuine talent! I have the honor of calling him my friend, but if you never meet him, you need only to hear this album to love him!

I saw Grayson Capps perform last week, and immediately bought the CD. I'm glad I did. He has a captivating voice, writes terrific songs, and plays with a great band--the Stumpknockers.

The music is a little like Tom Waits meets altcountry meets a backwoods swamp meets Flannery O'Connor--literate and primal at the same time. The production on the CD is outstanding--strong sound, great mix. Capps may soon become an "overnight" sensation--after about 15 years on the road.

Grayson Capps is an amazing singer/song writer.....and this is his best album. I recommend this artist and this album if you enjoy southern folk, light rock..

Saw Grayson Capps perform in January of this year. Most awesome thing I've ever witnessed. I bought every CD of his I could get my hands on the next week. This CD is wonderful. All of them are. He has a unique voice and his music is stirring. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

I ordered Grayson Capps, "If You Knew My Mind" as a present for a friend. After she played the music for me, I completely fell in love with it myself.
Amazon.com has been a great experience and I'm definitely going to use them again.
