About the Author

Kevin F. McMurray is a freelance writer/author whose articles have appeared in The New York Times, the Sunday Times of London, Outside, Men's Journal and others. His two previous books, Deep Descent and Dark Descent, are historical-adventure nonfiction works about notorious shipwrecks. Kevin has written several articles about true crimes that have appeared in Connecticut Magazine and several men's magazines. If You Really Loved Me is his first book-length treatment of an infamous murder case. Kevin lives in Brewster, NY with his wife and two daughters.

I live in the Atlanta area and followed this story in the newspaper. When I heard a book was being written about it, I was excited. Finally, I would get all the facts of the case, I thought, but I was sadly disappointed. The book
reads horribly, it is confusing, and leaves a lot of unanswered questions about the realtionship between Holly Harvey and Sandy Ketchum. At times, the author is critical of the police and Bruce Jordan, then he is praising Jordan. The author should have divided his story into two sections: Before he talked to the lawyers and after he talked to the lawyers. It seemed as if his opinion and the story's perspective changed drastically after he talked to the lawyers. Save your money, and wait for a better book. Right now, I am reading An Hour To Kill by Dale Hudson, and highly recommend this book. Good story, good author!

I reported not only on this story but some of the other Jordan cases mentioned in this book. The author got alot of the facts wrong and I mean alot of facts are wrong. Some of the things written about didn't even happen. The photographs were horrible and looked like they were taken with a poloraid. It doesn't surprise me that the girls lawyer liked it because it is nothing more than a tribute to the lawyers and those poor poor girls who were tracked down by those mean old police just because they killed a couple of people who were old any way. I can't believe this got published. Whatever publisher put this out really hurt their reputation

I stayed up late last night, unable to put this book down. I only wish it had gone on longer, but then I wouldn't have gotten any sleep at all.

I was mesmerized by the details of the killers' tawdry, brutal childhoods and the depravity of the murders, especially the description of the ruthless slayings from one of the murderers' own mouths. All the characters were made real: the murdering teenagers, the relatives who tried to help them, the cops who hunted them down and the lawyers who fought to defend them. I love true crime books, and this is one of the best I've read in years. If you're looking for a gripping page-turner, this is the book for you.
