Comment: This book has already been well loved by someone else and that love shows. It MIGHT have highlighting, underlining, be missing a dust jacket, or SLIGHT water damage, but over-all itâ?TMs still a good book at a great price! Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-K–In Cabrera's version of the popular children's song, various animals demonstrate the motions for the many verses. Monkey claps his hands, elephant stamps his feet, while giraffe nods his head. Concluding pages have a Hollywood Square montage of all nine animals who all cry at once "If you're happy and you know it, shout…We are!" Cheerful painterly pictures in a kaleidoscope of colors enhance the jovial mood of the song. Appearance of brush strokes gives texture to the animals, and the large black font is easy to read. This book will be an enjoyable storytime filler for those libraries not already owning Jan Ormerod's If You're Happy and You Know It (Star Bright, 2003).–Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA

From Booklist

PreS. As in Over in the Meadow (2000), Cabrera once again brings a popular traditional song to the youngest audience with bright, exuberant pictures of animals in action. In this interactive singing game, toddlers and preschoolers will clap their hands with the monkey; stamp their feet with the big, pink elephant; roar with the lion; kiss with the loving hippo and her baby; flap arms with the funny bird; and jump around with the big frog. Perfect for the lap-sit crowd, and the large, double-page spreads make this a winner for small groups as well. Hazel Rochman

A very fun book for a toddler...
E. Weiner
This edition is the bigger version, which made her very "happy." I love it when she brings it to me asking to read it while she claps and dances around.

This book is great for children who are familiar with the song that it is based on. My two year old grandson loved this book the first time we read it together. He knew what was coming and participated right along with the words in the book. The new verses were interesting to him too, and I assume he will soon readily participate with those verses as well. A very fun book for a toddler...

He loves the bright pictures. He loves the animals. He loves the fun, silly movements. We've read this more times than I can count. He has it memorized and 'reads' it to himself while doing the motions. Our 6-year-olds usually join it, too.

I imagine most pre-school aged kids will enjoy this book as much as ours does. Just be prepared to read it 10 times in a row. Seven or eight times a day.

We first checked this book out of our local library. My 17 month old daughter loves it. She already knows the song and does the clapping and stomping. She now loves to nod her head w/the giraffe, roar our loud w/the lion, go kiss kiss w/the hippo, say squeak squeak w/the mouse, flap her arms w/the bird, jump around w/the frog, and spin around. Even w/over 200 books in her home library, we knew this one was a keeper. Highly recommended.

I love this book. The 3-4 years old in my preschool ask for this book constantly. They love the "kiss-kiss" part as they run around to all their friends giving pretend kisses. I do wish this book had a cd to accompany it, as cd's always get them more invovled but hey, I guess thats what the teachers are for!

Decided to buy this used book, because my 2-year-old granddaughter was very "un"happy about having to return the library edition. She kept looking for it all over the house. This edition is the bigger version, which made her very "happy." I love it when she brings it to me asking to read it while she claps and dances around.
