We use coolers everyday for our professional fishing guide service. For years we have been replacing coolers on an annual basis. When the "heavier coolers" started to come out, we jumped right on board, equipping our boats and trucks. After going through a couple of brands...FINALLY... we have found a "high-end" cooler that is worth the money!!
The Yukon Cold Locker keeps your stuff COLD! That is it's primary job. Yukons keep ice equal to or better that all the competition. The handles are our favorite. When those coolers are full, the solid handle makes it feel lighter than all the competition. HANDS DOWN, we have really turned away from rope handles for many reasons. (they dangle and swing, you have to lift higher, they are small... and when they finally break......)
These lids do not warp! Super sized and tethered drain plugs! Super strong hinge! The lid stays open via detent, A MUST! Ruler on the lid! The reversible feet! I have both a 70qt and a 150qt. The 70qt has been in the back of a pick-up truck, in the weather, for nearly 12 months solid. It gets used every day, still works and looks like new. YUKON FOR LIFE!

This cooler is amazing. It stays cold longer than any other cooler on the market. If you need a cooler that last and will pay for its self in the ice you save the Yukon Cold Locker is it. I have researched all other brands on the market and all flaws people mention with the others Igloo Fixed with its Yukon Cold Lockers. The oversized drain plug makes draining so easy. No more need to trip the cooler over or wait for it to drain all the water before adding more ice. Another thing I love about this cooler is the handles. They are not cheap rope ones like others have and are built to last. The Yukon Cold Locker will also keep your food colder longer using Dry Ice. The roto-molded design allows the Yukon to keep your food cold all week. No more needing to leave the woods to run get ice. I brought mine to the deer lease and we had a head to head battle between my Igloo Yukon 50 qt and a Yeti Tundra 50 qt of my fathers. The Yukon has Stainless steel Lock holes to allow you to pad lock the cooler shut the Yeti did not. The Yukon has a oversize drain plus the Yeti does not. The Yukon handles are tougher and will outlast the Yeti. The Yukon held ice almost 2 days longer and keep the beer ice cold all week. The feet on the Yukon will allow you to change between non-skid and standard the Yeti makes you buy this as an upgrade. The weight of both was about the same but every at the deer lease agreed the Yukon felt better and more stable holding it. Igloo has been a brand we have trusted for 60 years. It has always been a worldwide leader in the cooler market and that tradition carries on with the Yukon cold locker series. I would recommend this Cooler to everyone and anytime I get a chance I do. My brother and my father recently upgraded for a Yeti to a Yukon after testing with mine for the week. If you want to get your father something he will love for Father's Day this is it.

I had a Yeti cooler and it did not keep ice as long as my old Igloo cooler They were about the same size. Same contents same amount of ice. Summer time inside
My camper shell Used 3-22lbs bags of ice a week in the Yeti. Compared to 2- 22 lbs in the Igloo It's cooler now 1-22 lb bag has lasted over 4 weeks . I am so glad I whiched to a YUKON cooler.

Upon receiving this cooler I decided to try my own little experiment. I loaded it full of ice (all cube from an ice machine - no block) with no "pre-cooling of the chest on Monday December 29, 2014 determined to see how long the ice would last with the cooler secured in the bed of my pickup (with a locking security cable). I opened the cooler at least once daily just to peek at the progress and satisfy my curiosity. New Year's Eve I violated my test a little bit and removed one 24 quart chest of ice for evening festivities. Noiw we have arrived at Tuesday January 13, 2015 and there is still ice in the chest, enought that I'm sure it will make it at least through the rest of the week into the weekend.

I know this is a rather unscientific test and not done under controlled temperture conditions. But I am in south Louisiana so while not hot, it hasn't been overly cold either. Also it has been sloshing around in my truck the whole time. So I believe that if it can make three weeks (almost there) in my little impromptu test, it should easily make it to the 10 day standards advertised by Igloo.

To summarize... I'm pretty pleased.

Update: January 18, 2015 - 21 days into my little test. I emptied the chest with a small layer of ice an average of 2 cubes thick still floating in the cold water. I figured three weeks with it in the back of my pickup was long enough. I know that it wasn't scientific, but it did prove to me that my purchase was going to meet all of my expectations.

Excellent cooler. Keeps ice as long as the Yeti and the handles are way easier to deal with. I bought it basically for the handles since I keep a cooler in the bed of my truck all summer and am able to lock this cooler in with a cable and lock. If some thief wants it they will have to destroy it to get it. The rope handles on some of the others can't provide that. The large drain plug is a nice feature also.
