About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic bike, June 25, 2007

This review is from: Ignite 726 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports)
Just received this bike this weekend and assembled it myself (56 year old female). I ordered this bike because it was one of the rare -- actually only one -- that I found where the back of the seat had a tilt adjustment. I have spine problems so this takes a lot of the strain off the spine. I tested it out in a local store and, actually, now that I've ridden it, the seat feels even more comfortable than when I tried it in the store. What everyone says about how quiet it is, is true. Very quiet and smooth.
The only (minor) complaint that I have is that I did not know, up front, that the bike would need access to electricity. Although that turned out to be not so huge of a problem for me it might be for someone else.
Fantastic value -- I use it for 30 minutes 4-5 times a week...with their warranties, this should last a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy with this bike, May 16, 2007

This review is from: Ignite 726 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports)
I ordered this bike about 3 weeks ago and got it last week. I used the free shipping option which takes more time but saves alot of money.

The shipping company, Eagle, did a fine job of contacting me and setting up a delivery date and time. The bike was delivered in the target time and the box was in great condition.

It took me about an hour and a half to assemble the bike by myself. The directions could be a little more clear and some steps of the assembly would be easier if you have someone there to help you. That said, it is possible to put this together on your own, so long as you are physically able to lift heavy objects, kneel, lay on your back, etc.

Once the bike was assembled, I half expected it to not work and dreaded having to deal with the service department. I was very happy when I plugged it in and found it working perfectly. I haved used it seven times since getting it and have found no problems with the bike.

If you are used to the bikes at the gym you'll be surprised at how quiet this one. A great feature if you like to watch TV or listen to music while you exercise. It is somewhat heavy, over 100 pounds, but it does have wheels on the front and a handle on the back so it's relatively easy to move if you need to, though I'd recommend something lighter if you're looking for something to move out of the way when not in use.

If you're looking for a simple, easy-to-use exercise bike for your home or apartment, you can't go wrong with this one. It has everything you'll need and is not as expensive as the higher-end models.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal!, July 27, 2007
This review is from: Ignite 726 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports)
Great product, great price. Delivery was fast and assembly was easy. Easy to operate and the countoured, padded seat is wonderful. I actually use the bottle holder to hold the TV remote, so now I'm a bike potato instead of a couch potato...
