About the Author
Mr Kilmer has an undergraduate degree from Harding University and a Masters degree from Abilene Christian University. He has spent the past thirty years researching America’s moral values and has served as a minister in the churches of Christ. Dean has self-published Mastering the Word, a study guide designed to help people memorize the major contents of the New Testament. This material has been taught in seminars in 17 states with approximately 3500 copies being sold. An additional 700 copies of the taped presentation were sold. He has also written a number of articles for Christian newspapers and religious periodicals. Dean is a recognized speaker, having spoken in a number of lectureships, seminars, retreats and other church related functions. He has been married to Karen for 37 years and they have two children and four grandchildren.

I suspect that most of us would agree with the assertion that integrity is one thing our world needs a LOT more of these days. Dean Kilmer, in his book Igniting the Moral Courage of America, gives us six simple steps to living with integrity.
Kilmer discusses the historical decline of moral integrity in America and how our own thinking has played a major role in allowing the decline to happen. He explains what exactly integrity is and steps we can take to live our own lives with integrity. He encourages us to take a in depth look at some of the issues eroding the family and how we can build integrity and fidelity back into the homes of America. The author also talks about fear and how we need to demonstrate courage in our quest to positively change to future. He stresses the need to reclaim our education system and build a foundation of truth in our lives. In the end the only way this can be done is through God's power in and through us! Kilmer follows each chapter with a discussion guide which would make it a good choice for a Sunday school class or small group study. I appreciated his use of personal illustrations and found the book easy to read and follow. Dean Kilmer is employed as a pastor and the book feels like an engaging series of sermons.
