5.0 out of 5 stars Another FANTASTIC and ARTISTIC CD, November 18, 2006

I wasn't surprised about the punch that this CD delivered - I expected it. I expected it to top the wonderful American Dust, I dared it to touch my heart more than Pure Faith, and it succeeded. My favorite track, it's too early to tell ... I love them all. I am personally drawn to September Prayer, but I think that any one who hears it will make a personal connection. Yeah, another hit!!! The music, the lyrics ... gets better with each CD - keeps my toes a tapping, my fingers snapping and my heart a singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take a chance on Chris Berardo & The Desberardos, December 5, 2006
This review is from: Ignoring All The Warning Signs (Audio CD)
Ignoring All The Warning Signs heralds a coming of age in musical style and lyrical content for musician and songwriter, Chris Berardo. As the title implies, Chris has forsaken the path most chosen for the one less traveled, and how lucky for us that he has. For those who have heard his previous efforts, American Dust and Pure Faith, but may still have harbored doubts about Chris's standing in the world stage of Americana music, this new release will dispel any lingering uncertainty and make true believes of the un-converted.

Ignoring All The Warning Signs draws the listener in from the initial up beat mandolin harmonies, which sets a beautiful tone for the rest of the album. With the 10 new songs on ISATWS, Chris steps away from his previous sounds, and creates fresh, clean music that demands the listener stop and take notice. We see yet another side of Chris' ability to break down musical stereotypes and unite a wide variety of styles to build a sound that reminds us at various moments of our favorite rocker or the best blues singer or a lonesome country artist. We are reminded that Chris' premier talent is that of a musical chameleon, easily adapting many musical genres, which under his command become his own unique blend of sounds. And, while Chris' take-no-prisoners attitude still bleeds thru on many of these new tunes, there is a softer side revealed as each song grows to live out its short, but sweet life.

If we are to believe that a song is a reflection of the writer, opening a small window into his or her soul, then with IATWS we as listeners get a clearer vision of who Chris Berardo really is and what he wants to say to the world. If we listen closely we will hear much more than how love was found and then lost; we hear the message that life is worth living in the moment and that no matter what obstacles have knocked us down, be it love, or life, or something more intangible, we should look beyond and jump back in with an innocent heart. With each note Chris is telling us to take a chance on life. Take a chance on love. Cherish your friends. Don't give up.

With IATWS Chris Berardo spins his stories and opens up his soul to let us share his pain, but rather than allow us to be weighed down by it, he turns each heady tune around to inspire the listener to learn from his lessons, and to move on and be more.... In this we discover what lies beneath, the spirit of an eternal optimist.

While it is evident that Chris has mastered the art of storytelling, it is also evident on IATWS that he has mastered the art of putting together the whole package, marrying the story to the music. This is perhaps most apparent on Barstool, where the song builds upon itself, each layer appearing and disappearing with a timing that flawlessly brings the listener full circle. We end as we began and that makes us whole.

As an artist, it is a true challenge to create new and fresh ideas without merely recycling old material. While we will be warmed by themes that appear from Chris' past repertoire, they reappear in bright, shinning new clothes, creatively reinvented and dressed to party as only a Berardo can. No, there is no recycling here as Chris leads us thru a bevy of emotions, some so raw we will want to cry (September Prayer), some so buoyant we will want to get up and dance (Everybody Swings Around Here). As a master of his craft, Chris not only plays beautiful songs, he beautifully plays his listeners with each note on this well executed effort. It was worth the wait, so take a chance on love, on life and on Chris Berardo and ad this must-have disc to your collect without delay!
