Very entertaining and conveys a great message!,

This review is from: The Iguana Brothers, a Tale of Two Lizards (Hardcover)
I would recommend this book for primary grade levels and even for older children for the humorous content. This book is as much fun for the teacher as it is for the kids. It has a great message that brothers can also be friends. I recommend this book highly.

Tom and Dom are so fun, we've read this book over and over again. We've imagined all sorts of new adventures for Tom and Dom, and we've learned some Spanish along the way. This is definately in the the top 10 of our hundreds of children's books.

3-8 yrs. Children will enjoy this story of Tom and Dom, two Iguana brothers who contemplate such issues as whether or not to eat bugs, their realization that they are dinosaurs, and having friends. They speak english with occasional spanish words reflecting their locale & habitat. A funny story.

Brothers can be friends,

The Iguana Brothers is a fun way to add a little spanish lesson into the classroom. I would recommend reading the story to a classroom full of students where you can talk about the spanish words and figure out how you could add them into your conversation. Overall the story was a little slow moving. Iguana's aren't meant for high speed adventure, but this tail is a little slow even for an iguana. I would have liked to have seen one storyline with a little more excitement rather then three different parts of stories pushed into one.

Hurray for Tom and Dom! I really love reading this book aloud. Tom and Dom are such great characters I wish that Tony Johnston would write another Iguana brothers book. With illustrations by Mark Teague, of course.

This book is the classic "who you are is best" storyline, but is silly enough that it is not saccharine. This story is so much fun that I didn't mind reading it over and over again.

This book is charming with the old moral story of "it is best to be yourself". The art is great but since the story mostly involves 2 iguanas lazing around and talking, there really was not a chance for illustrator Mark Teague to apply his wonderful upbeat inventive artwork. But if you want grand fun, check out other books that are illustrated by the illustrator of this book. He even writes some of his books too. Try, "The Secret Shortcut", "The Lost and Found", a recent great book "One Halloween Night", "Pigsty" (great at convincing anyone they should have a clean room), "No Moon, No Milk", "What I Did On My Summer Vacation", and "The Baby Tamer". The best of all for over the top inventiveness is "The Flying Dragon Room".
