Yep, that's right.

In fact she's so strong that her school let her represent them in the tournament all by herself!

The plot is a bit thin and kinda out there, but interesting.

What can I say, I'm actually enjoying this anime so far. Volume one was okay, but this one surpasses it in every aspect--the fights are better, the story and characters are further developed (nothing that deep though), and uh, for those of you that care, there's even more fanservice and sexuality.

If you've read the reviews for vol. 1, you should already know the basic story--ancient warriors from the great Chinese novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" have been reincarnated into high school students from seven rival high schools across Japan's Kanto region. These students are known as "Fighters" and the seven schools are battling each other for supremacy. Well, in this volume the Big Fighters Tournament begins, which is the ultimate event that will decide the top school in the region. Obviously, this paves the way for a number of fights to ensue. Our heroine, "Booby Bombs" Hakufu is teamed up with her cousin/bodyguard Koukin, Gakusho, and Ryomou to fight for her school in the tournament. I gotta say, Ryomou was awesome in this volume--she has to be my favorite character so far. She has the coolest fighting style, and I love her strong, noble personality. She's kinda like a cross between Rei Ayanami from Eva and Piccolo from DBZ.

A cool new character also makes her appearance in this volume--Kanu, a very strong, beautiful fighter with long dark hair that goes down to her feet. In fact she's so strong that her school let her represent them in the tournament all by herself! However, she does not desire to win the tournament--only to have a good fight with a worthy opponent. In the last episode of this volume, both Ryomou and Hakufu end up fighting with her, and they were definitely the best fights in the show so far.

7 schools are at war with each other. These schools have male and female fighters that battle for supremacy. Hakufu Sonsaku is new in town. Her cousin and herself are fighting to protect their friends and keep their school on top. More importantly they fight to make their own destiny.

This anime is a lot of fun. It has great action, comedy, and some really great characters. It's more focused on chicks fighting and getting it on than the actual story. The plot is a bit thin and kinda out there, but interesting. You can easily get into the characters, and want them to be okay in the end. I guess that is what makes an anime good. Ikki Tousen is a very entertaining anime to watch, but as I said it's main purpose is fan service.

Yep, that's right. Second volume is better than the first. Be warned, though: there's a even more sexual situations in this than the first. If you're looking for insight into the series, check out my review of vol. 1. Other than the above mentioned increased fanservice, things are pretty much the same. The story gets a little deeper too.

The Big Fighters Tournament to see which warrior reigns supreme among the Japan high schools has begun and Hakufu's burning ambition is driving her to defeat all comers. Helping her out is the soul of the greatest ancient Chinese fighter which threatens to completely possess her soul, much to the horror of her cousin Koukin! Hakufu is teamed up with Koukin and the enigmatic masochist maid Ryomou and they have easy victories in their early battles...that is, until Kanu arrives. Kanu is a deadly beauty whose inner strength could match even Hakufu's. Unknown to both girls their confrontation is being manipulated by hidden forces with the goal being for the greatest fighters in the tournament to take each other out.

Ikki Tousen's main strength is its beautiful women kicking each other's butt with an excess of panty shots and sexual suggestion. Normally this wouldn't be enough to keep me interested but the show is so well done with the addition of action and comedy to this formula that you'll find yourself enjoying it in spite of yourself. The character designs are exquisite and the colors are bright and vibrant. While the accents are on the fighting, the sensualness can suffocate you at times...in a good way. This is a great show so far. Seek it out for an entertaining distraction.
