A Must for iBook and MacBook Users, July 30, 2006
This review is from: Ilap 14 - Laptop Stand By Rain Design (Personal Computers)
Since the new MacBooks run hotter than the older iBooks, I needed to find a way to use the computer in my lap without burning my legs. I knew about the iLap before, but this time I really researched it before deciding to buy it for my new computer. Let me tell you, this is one of those products that does exactly what it is supposed to do. I bought the 14" iLap (instead of waiting for the 13" version) because I needed it now. It keeps the computer off of my legs and I can no longer feel the heat from the computer. The back piece can rotate with your legs, so it works from many different sitting positions. Perhaps the biggest positive surprise is how the front velvet padding lifts your wrists off the MacBook. If you have used a new MacBook, then you have probably experienced the strange, sharp ridge that goes around the machine. After a few hours of usage, I end up with grooves cutting into my skin. The iLap's design completely removes the discomfort! You can type and use the machine for hours without any problems. This is a fantastic product that I highly recommend to any Apple laptop user. It is well built, well designed, and I would argue that it is a necessity for those that use the new MacBook. The 14" is perfect for the new MacBook, so I have no problem recommending this version if you don't want to wait for the new one. Buy the iLap today and save your legs from burning!

Not worth the price -- design problem -- 0 stars, June 30, 2007

I bought an iLap and at first was delighted. But I soon discovered that the cloth cushion was held on only by simple rubber cement! The heat of the laptop causes the cement to melt, and the pillow simply came off -- useless. The sticky residue remains, making it difficult to use without the cushion. Attempts to contact customer service by phone or email were ignored. I had to conclude that not only was the product inferior, but the company was not acting in good faith.

Useful but expensive, November 5, 2006

The most important point of this stand is it will keep a hot iBook off your lap, that it does very well. But it should be about $20 to get a 5 star rating. The rubber non-shid feet supplied do a very good job of keepin your iBook in place but the velcro holding the one pad on seems a design afterthought. I creeps out of place and requires careful reattachment every couple of weeks. If you suffer from hot iBook lap this will do the trick but the price will make you think twice after you see it.
