Ilap 17W - Laptop Stand By Rain Design

So far, I have very much appreciated Rain Design's iLap

I received it as a gift from my sis

I often use my LapZilla (17" Apple) on my lap ---- the comfort of the iLap has been excellent, as its easy to position upon my lap and makes typing easy

my only complaint would be the small size of the base ---- of course, the base is made to barely cover the laptop's footprint, meaning that you have no room for papers or elbows

if you're looking for a 'lapdesk' then look elsewhere ----- but if your only need is a solid laptop stand for your 'lap', then look no further!

I have tried many different ways of working with my laptop on my lap. As anyone who has done this knows, these buggers can get very warm! This is uncomfortable for the user and extremely bad for your laptop. (I learned this the hard way!) I had finally found an excellent, amazingly inexpensive, little rubber thing that held the computer at an angle to allow it to breath. So I got one of those padded lap desks and with the little rubber thing I was doing fine. Then my wonderful husband got me a 17" Wide screen laptop for Christmas. (my other one was a 14" regular screen) Well, that pretty much shot the little rubber thing out the water. It simply was not up to the task of a laptop that size.

I did some research, and everything pointed to either this one or the Lapinator. This one sounded a little better to me so I gave it a try. It works excellently! My laptop barely gets warm let alone my lap! It is very comfortable and as you need to shift for you own comfort, the swiveling back brace makes it easy to shift the laptop with you.

I originally purchased the 17" iLap from Amazon, but I didn't realize that the one they sell is for the Mac laptop, I have a PC laptop, which is a bit larger than the Mac. So I had to return it and purchase the larger one. It's only 1" larger in both length and width but it makes all the difference. I highly recommend this laptop stand!

All I can say is, iLap should come automatically with every apple laptop. It sits perfectly on the desk at a nice angle, has a sweet rest for your wrists, and allows airflow beneath your laptop.

Now go buy this.

I own the 17" PowerBook and it gets HOT with prolonged use. Being laid up after surgery, I was spending hours with this powerhouse heating up my lap....and it was a bit uncomfortable even with a different laptop "tray". Bought the ILap and it is amazing how it diffuses the heat - actually comfortable right on my lap with notebook use for hours. Highly recommend. And it is attractive and useful on the tabletop as well.

I bought this to use with my 17" MacBook Pro and it exceeds my expectations. I use it mainly on the desk or table, but do use it while on the couch, etc. The iLap offers plenty of real estate for the computer and the computer stays put. I prefer to use it without the front cushion as I'm a bit shorter than average and the iLap more than fills up my lap, so with the cushion off it seems to fit me better. It does a fantastic job of disipating heat. With the MacBook Pro in mind, that feature alone makes it a wise purchase. It probably isn't real condusive to being constantly on the go as it is fairly large and doesn't fold up into a small package. I looked at most of the 'other stands' and decided the iLap would best meet my needs. I haven't regretted my decision a bit.

It works as advertised, allowing me to comfortably perch my laptop in the appropriate place, my lap; without getting too warm or fidgiting too much. The stand disapates heat effectively and the cushioning/wrist rest is very nice to have. My only concern is how long will the cushioning last? After only a few weeks it is a little "loosey-goosey." If I were sure the cushioning would last as long as I'm sure the aluminum platform will last, I would give this product a "5."

Keeps your PowerBook running cool... Great design... The only problem is its a little over priced..

I like it. Makes a lot easy to work on my laptop anywhere
in my home. While watching TV, on bed, in car, etc.

This product keeps my computer and my lap cool. I don't know why it took me so long to get it. It is well worth the money. It is made well and very comfortable.

MacBook Pro's get really really hot, but the Ilap makes that a non-issue. Highly recommended.
