When my middle school age kids and I were studying ancient greece, I tried reading a few pages from The Odyssey. They loved the language and didn't really want me to stop reading, but then they followed their plea with, "What did all of that mean?" I decided that a younger version would give them context and meaning, and then in later years we could revisit Homer's original work. This is the version I chose. It was outstanding. I read aloud daily, and they fell in love with the stories and characters. They still talk about it months later. This book included vocabulary words at the bottom of nearly every page. Even though the definitions were provided, I typed them up and had them alphabetize the words and look them up. Since the vocabulary words came from a book they had loved, my kids were more than happy to search them out. They liked this version of the story so much that they want to make it into a play and perform it. This is a great read aloud book, and not too difficult for a 12 year old to understand if read alone.

...after being with K12 for approximately 11 years we decided to become a private academy in our homeschool education. However, we decided to also stick with much of the K12 curriculum, as we were VERY pleased with it. Thank you for making this product available!
