Challenging and Eclectic,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ilium (Audio CD)
An interesting exploration of the relationship between an electric guitar and a cello, as well as the relationship between musical styles typically ascribed to those instruments. The conversation, cooperation and differerences coming into play as the artists perform make for a challenging and intriguing album.

Accessible Language,
By Scott Lewis (Richmond, Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ilium (Audio CD)
Telegraph Melts' Ilium is very accessible because it's language is universal and non-threatening. More experienced listeners will respond to it's exploration of insturment roles, conversations, etc. (see A Music Fan, Seattle, WA). Musical literacy is not as much the key to appreciation, however, as is an open mind with a willingness to follow where the tunes lead. If you can appreciate a Mark Rothko or an Alexander Calder then you will have no trouble understanding this music.
