The legendary british Jazz musician Humphrey Lyttleton apparently refers to this relatively new kid on the block as Stan Cool (Dun Stan Coul ber... get it) and its a pretty good summation of this musicians skills. Got this album recently and saw him do a live gig last week at a jazz club in London. A real classy performer which switches between saxopohone and clarinet with consummate ease. And when he and the band kick intoi a number they blow up a storm. It's a nice blend of the modern with a real sense of melody. he loves the great songwriters of the first half of the 20th century - cole porter, gershwin, irving berlin... and they feature heavily. First listened to this while on a plane flying oiver icebergs. Now that was just the right kind of cool thing to do.
