"I'll Fly Away" was one of the best written and acted series ever. Won many awards and then canceled, because nobody was watching. Sold to PBS and reintroduced with a two hour movie. I'd love to see it again if ever released on DVD.

One of the creators of this series said they wanted to do "To Kill a Mockingbird" as a series, but including the point of view of black people. I think they far surpassed "To Kill a Mockingbird". For instance, Sam Waterson's character is Atticus Finch, but much more complex. He's not purely virtuous. Sometimes he does the right thing while others he's motivated more by fear or ambition. Regina Taylor brings great depth and dignity to the character of Lily, the maid. At times the narration lapses into cornball, but that would be my only gripe about this excellent series. The supporting cast of characters is excellent too. My favorite is the Greek-mythology quoting, wrestling coach. Bill Cobb is great as Lily's father. I could go on and on. Brand and Falsey, this is probably your finest work. Why haven't you released it on DVD??
