I absolutely loved reading I'll Have What She's Having! It is impossible to read this book without being encouraged and inspired to pursue all that God has purposed for us as women. Bobbie does an excellent job of outlining and backing with scripture easy, practical ways to take steps closer towards having a heart that is truly after God's own heart. I read the previous review, and while I do agree that Bobbie's book lacks the specific details of the her own story and those of other women she cited, I actually appreciated that. Sometimes, when we hear inspirational stories of other Christian women, we say "but that's different...she didn't have to deal with <fill in your own struggles/trials>...if she had, her story might be different" Despite the differences of our stories and despite our trials (difficulties in marriages, wayward kids, being single, etc), we are all called to live a godly life fully surrendered to Christ. That is why I really appreciated Bobbie's book. She says it how it is - if we want to be women who live lives so that others are drawn to Christ, then we need to be women of conviction and resolve and take our call to leadership seriously.

A most disappointing work! The author presents the idea that, as Christians, our lives should be so exciting and enticing to others that they will want what we have. She writes, "We ought to be experiencing a fortunate and prosperous life, and we ought to be enviable in the purest sense." She goes on to tell stories about people who have overcome difficulties and emerged victorious, powerful, happy and influential. However, she gives very few (if any) details as to what these women overcame, or how they achieved whatever it is they supposidly achieved. The author's own story lacks sufficient detail to be inspiring. She paints the picture of a life most of us won't recognize, ie. devoid of the pain and devastation that is part of life, Christian or not. Her approach to Christian life is so oversimplified as to be unrecognizable. It's clear she adheres to the "prosperity" gospel which promotes the idea that the sign of God's "favor" is wealth and prosperity, great health, perfect marriages, problemless children, etc. These things become the hallmark of how well your life measures up to God's Will. The author also presents contradictory ideas, telling the reader to avail themselves of good teaching by attending conferences, reading books and purchasing teaching materials in order to grow and become all that God wants one to be. But then, when speaking about the Holy Spirit in chapter 18 she writes, "Do not read or absorb someone's theory on the Holy Spirit. Search for a true understanding of the Trinity. The best way is to search the Scriptures yourself..."

There are countless other resources available for bible study and/or personal spiritual growth. Don't waste your money or time on this one.
