5.0 out of 5 stars Great Debut June 16, 2000
By Jason
Format:Audio CD
Seriously, this is a great Debut by a female rapper. This is the best female rapper out their---Lil'Kim can't touch The Ill NaNa--and wha! --Get me home and Ill be--the singles are off the chain--Ill na na and holy matrimony--are so tight and great jamming for the car--Please cop this--and dont forget about "chyna Doll" by foxy--10X better than her debut--which is rare to all artists--usually the 1st is better--but chyna doll kicks it--Ill Na NA is da bomb also

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is How It Should Be Done! April 4, 2002
Format:Audio CD
While the intro "Chicken Coop" is corny and goes on for way too long, it somehow doesn't detract from the overall vibe and brisk pace of this great CD. These are 12 tight tracks, all brilliantly produced, somewhat derivative at times, but a pleasure to blast from your car or in your headphones. "The Promise" is probably my favorite track of all, a thumping, percussive track produced by and featuring Havoc of Mobb Deep.
The fine chemistry between these 2 MC's and their fluid delivery are flawless. "Get Me Home", a smooth, R&B laced collaboration with Blackstreet manages to be radio friendly without sounding watered down. "No One's" is another soul-flavored jam that samples an old 80's jam, but breathes new life into it and Foxy's understated flow compliments the lush backing track to perfection. The album's other big hit ("I'll Be" featuring Jay-Z)ends the LP on a high note and is another collaboration made in hip-hop heaven! Her 2 follow-ups have been less consistent, but when she debuted in 1996 with this fine collection, Foxy Brown raised the stakes for female MC's everywhere. Few have managed to live up to the challenge, including Ms. Brown herself. Personally, I'm awaiting another masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Fox November 23, 2004
By Kole
Format:Audio CD
This album is classic Fox, although the intro and outro are annoying, and at a first listen had me thinking I bought a wack album, the tracks make a quick rebound. Although I listen to all the tracks now, a few of them had to grow on me. Other then the intro and outro there really isn't a low point on the album or a bad track, but a couple of the songs are huge stand outs. I like this album more then Chyna Doll but it's not quite as good as Broken Silence, although you get the feel that this album is who she is, Broken Silence tells you why she is what she is. This albums stand outs are I'll Be and Holy Matrimony, but the other tracks are tight as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far from ILL April 8, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Foxy Brown is by far the greatest female rapper today and this album shows it! Her songs with Meth and Jay-Z are off the hook and Foxy's Bells has one of the tighest beats! This CD is a must get for any rap fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars Foxy Brown, The illest chick period. August 21, 2005
By John
Format:Audio CD
Although Foxy aka Inga only co-wrote a couple a songs, this cd is bangin'. The production on this album was great. "Get Me Home," "I'll Be," & "Foxy's Bells" were some highlights. When Foxy Brown first met Nas she stated that she was a little scared writing her own rhymes because she didn't know if they were good enough. Still, Foxy Brown was only 16 when she recorded this album and her voice sounds straight up gangsta.

4.0 out of 5 stars Foxy Brown-Ill Na Na December 31, 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Foxy stormed into the hip-hop world with this 1996 release. And thank God she did. This album gave us a good taste of the REAL Foxy Brown with her very deep vocals here. This album was recorded and released on the bright side of her career. She had Lil' Kim (See "Ill Na Na" ..."Waitin for Kim' album to drop...knowin' its hot") She had Jay-Z (See production and author notes) and she was happy (the whole damn CD...except maybe If I...) SO-Heres the thing. If you are a happy person who is a fan of Lil' Kim and Jay-Z as well-You'll love this. If you want something with more of a bite-Then go for "Broken Silence" and watch her use the same flow w. more lyrical content. Overall-A good CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! April 23, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
FOXY BROWN is a very atractive, young, woman which i admit drew me into her, her voice pulled me closer, but her awsome rap style hooked me and now i can't get her out of my head. i have my own web page ([...]) and every cd she ever had such as Ill Na Na, How to Be a Playa soundtrack, The Firm (w/ Nas) and Chyna Doll. I love her to death! on this cd she shines in "the promise" (featuring Havoc), "if i", "get me home" (featuring BLACKstreet), "holy matrimony letter to the firm", and the hot track "ill na na" (featuring Method Man). i usually don't listen to the hit songs on a cd but get me home is probably my favorite song she ever did. but this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Foxy Rocks Her Bells On Debut Classic! October 27, 2006
Format:Audio CD
Wow it's hard to believe that this album came out 10 years ago already, I was just going through my CD collection yesterday and I was playing this and it still sounds just as live as it did when I first heard it back then, my favorite tracks on here are "Gotta Get You Home", "Ill Na Na", "Foxy's Bells", "I'll Be", and "If I", I really hope that she could get past all of her troubles off the mic and put out another album 'cause she's one of the best female rappers ever, much love Foxy keep ya head up baby
