5.0 out of 5 stars A bedtime ritual
I have a slightly different version of this book - it has a picture of a little boy hugging the moon instead of the boy and his mother on the cover. It is a sweet bedtime ritual, with just the right amount of text on each page in a flowing rhyme style that children will soon learn off by heart. I would recommend this book for children 2 - 6 years of age, especially...

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty illustration-don't like the message
I really like the soft primitive illustrations in this book but I feel like it has a weird overall message that night time is scary. On the rare occasion that I read it to my son I leave out a couple verses.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bedtime ritual, June 20, 2006

I have a slightly different version of this book - it has a picture of a little boy hugging the moon instead of the boy and his mother on the cover. It is a sweet bedtime ritual, with just the right amount of text on each page in a flowing rhyme style that children will soon learn off by heart. I would recommend this book for children 2 - 6 years of age, especially children with fears of the dark or monsters or of just being alone at bedtime. I was very impressed with the cover of this book, there is no dust jacket to get torn and neither is it made of cardboard that would soon get creased with use. The poem ends with the promise of "...and I'll see you in the morning".

This is such a loving and comforting story about how you will always be there to protect your little one as they sleep through the night. The rhymes are good, the illustrations are soft and reassuring, just like the words themselves. I read this with my two year old and we both enjoy it together immensely.

This is really a beautiful book. Wonderfully illustrated. The story itself is peaceful and lilting. My 1 1/2 year old MUST be read this book each night; we spend a lot of time pointing and gazing at the stars and other cosmic beauties. It's a great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK!, June 24, 2010

We really love this book and have been reading it to our daughter since she was born (she's now 2). It is a very sweet bedtime book that imparts a warm feeling about bedtime and how the parent is nearby if the child needs her... One of my favorite lines, "Don't be afraid of darkness. Don't be afraid my sweet; the night is just a blanket that helps the earth to sleep." Adorable illustrations, too...I have bought it for 3 of my friends' children as well and everyone loves it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not like the original book . . . ., November 2, 2011

I bought this book for my grandson as his first copy is wearing out from use. But, this copy is the updated version and is a bit different from the one he currently uses. It still is a nice book, but the wording is different. I was a bit surprised at this, but he still likes it and it is his favorite book. I love the board pages as they do not wear out like his other books and the pages cannot be torn or bent. A great little book for a little one!!

5.0 out of 5 stars We like it!, October 28, 2011

This is a lovely bedtime book that's just a touch shy of great. The rhymes don't quite feel metered perfectly, and it's a little on the sappy side... but it's luminous and peaceful, and my go-to bedtime choice if the sprog is being particularly squirrely. It's not as much *fun* as, say, a Boynton book, but sometimes fun is not a priority at bedtime. My son likes the simple drawings of animals and the little boy and his mama and his green teddy bear that appear over and over. I'll be buying copies for friends with new babies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A darling peaceful book, November 9, 2010

This is simply a darling peaceful read before bed. The pictures are very peaceful, and the prose is simple, rythmic and sweet. There are not too many words per page, and the actual poem is so comforting. It lets your baby know that everyone sleeps at night: "creatures great and creatures small will all be sleeping soon, under the same blanket, under the same moon." It conveys a message of peace, a shared world, harmony, and security. The child is also reassured twice that mommy will be there in the morning; "I'll see you in the morning, by the light of the sun, my love!" I love this book. You will memorize it easily even though it is (thankfully) NOT too short. I have read it to my daughter since she was about 6 months old. It didn't hold her interest until she was 16 months. Now she LOVES it. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely LOVE this book! It's adorable and reassuring. My 3 year old and 1 year old love it and can recite it by heart now. We read it every night. Seriously, don't waste your money on the dumb Goodnight Moon book. This is the book to have in your own library and give to all of the new babies that come into your life. Highly recommend...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Bedtime Poem for Little Ones!, January 18, 2010

I bought this board book for my 3 month old baby at Christmas because I wanted to ensure that reading became part of his nightly routine. This book is perfect for infants, as its bright illustrations hold baby's attention and its rhyming text makes it enjoyable for parents as well. This sweet poem explains to children that night-time is nothing to be afraid of and ends with, "Night, night. Sleep tight. I'll see YOU in the morning!". It is short enough to become a story that you can read nightly when your child gets older and begs for more books! I recently purchased two more of these books for baby shower gifts, and my three year old enjoys it, too!
