2.0 out of 5 stars Am I Hearing the Same Thing?
....Frankly, I dont know what everyones talking about. This didn't strike me as anything special. I certainly dont think its worth making/buying this single. If this was on a full album it'd be a song I'd always skip. Although both Meth and Mary are talented, I wouldn't recommend this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's all about the "Razor Sharp RMX", April 3, 2005

When this CDS came out, the Puff Daddy Mix was all over the airwaves. The album version is very true to the Marvin Gaye track, in terms of the accompanying music.

RZA, the man who sculpted many of the early Wu-Tang sounds/solo albums/group albums/etc, came in and remixed his original. It was kind of updated, more futuristic sounding. It's got tight, crisp drums, which was kind of outside of the realm of his normal, "dirty" sound. The melody and bassline might sound repetitive, but its that motion that helps catapult Meth's grimey vocal. The fact that Mary J. still sounds flawless over this very underground Hip-Hop track shows all of their genius. This version rips any of the others in my humble opinion. One of my favorite Meth tracks, ever.

"I gotta love jones..."

5.0 out of 5 stars You can teach an old dog new tricks, December 24, 2002
This review is from: I'll Be There For You/You're All I Need To Get By (Audio CD)
I'm a 38 woman and rarely rarely rarely listen to hip hop/rap. I heard this single on an MTV Party to Go compilation album and was blown away. The lyrics are outstanding: deceptively simple, creative, and poetic. The delivery is brilliant! Reminded me of Digable Planets but better. This song communicated to me some of the best of what rap or hip hop has to offer.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Hip-Hop Love Anthem of All Time!, December 1, 1999

This ranks in the highest echelon of hip-hop songs ever recorded. Method and Mary make an incredible team. Every painstaking, heartfelt emotion is captured on this recording. Meth's plays his role as an imprisioned street soldier to a hilt while Mary's devoted sistah-in-waiting is extremely well placed. Mary's melodious melodies compliment Meth's husky tones to perfection. A truly bravura performance.

This song was dedicated to me by my first love, so I might be a little bias, but I love it!!! It has it all, Mary's sweet R&B vocals with a twist of Thug by Meth. Not too Mushy and not too hard, PERFECT, would totally recommend it to everyone!!

This song puts young love to words. Definitely in my eyes, one of the best hip hop songs ever recorded. The combined sounds of Mary and Method truly take you there.Showing affection and manlyness, respect and loyalty, this song is the epitomy of hip hop love. The Queen of hip hop and the "Man" of rap. Mary J. and Method Man simply put it together, and make you feel every word.

5.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU'RE LOKING FOR THE VIDEO VERSION OF THIS CLASSIC, THIS IS IT(TRACK 3), April 11, 2010

The Razor Sharp Mix of "I'll Be There For You/You're All I Need To Get By"(aka the video version/track 3) is a classic example that the remix is better than the original. The beat is super sick plus adding Mary J. Blige is a bonus. Personally the original & the Puff Daddy remix should be put out of circulation for good because the Razor Sharp Mix is the one everyone looking for. This is when the Wu was at the top of the game. Definitely a all time classic.

Listening to this single shows why Method Man and MJB won a grammy for this sinle. Mary's vocals, Method's lyrics and the vibes particularly from P. Diddy's(P. Daddy's) remix show why this joint is still being played on the radio and in many New York City clubs.
