Book Description

February 2, 2006 10 and up5 and upIllmoor Chronicles (Book 2)
The second adventure in the Illmoor Chronicles trilogy finds Illmoor in peril once again...but this new menace is more deadly than the rat infestation that plagued the city, and more diabolical than even the dark magic could imagine. The Yowler Brotherhood has existed for centuries in the alleyways and shadows of Illmoor. But now, with an evil new magic, they will emerge from the shadows, descend from their rooftop recluse, and destroy anyone that stands in the way of their complete domination of Illmoor.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 5-8. In this sequel to The Ratastrophe Catastrophe (2004), a cultlike brotherhood plots to resurrect the evil Yowler, God of Stones, threatening to transform the people of Dullitch into rocks. The ragtag band attempting to thwart this evil plan includes a part-time vampire, a thief turned gravedigger, and Duke Modeset, the cowardly, inept former ruler of Dullitch, who was banished after mishandling the rat situation in the first book. Stone's sprawling, sophisticated narrative involves a huge cast of characters that stumbles from one crisis to the next in video game-like fashion. Although it takes a while for the plot to reveal itself, the writing brims with quirky characters and humorous asides, and patient, careful fantasy readers will be rewarded with a satisfying ending that hints at what's to come in the next entry in the Illmoor Chronicles. This book stands alone, but kids will like it enough to want to read the previous one. Kay Weisman

Review

'David Lee Stone is a wonderfully mad new talent to watch. He has a truly original comic voice and you won't forget his hysterically hopeless (rather than heroic) characters in a hurry!' -- Wendy Cooling 'many comical elements and a touch of Mervyn Peake' -- Children's Bookseller --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Illmoor Chronicles, The: The Yowler Foul-Up - Book Two (Illmoor Chronicles) (Hardcover)
I just finished the first 2 books which I really enjoyed(first time I read first bok I didn't like it). This is a great read. David Stone in my opinion didn't focus jokes on the names and characters as much like in the first. I didn't laugh once in this book. It is a great fantasy series and I hope it stays that way. I hope third and fourth ones come today.
