Product Description

The Illuminator is self Powered Light/Radio/Cell Charger utilizes a crank which is folded against the back of the light for power. Turning the crank charges a set of small internal rechargeable cells which then provide power to the rest of the built-in systems. The lighting portion of this device consists of three 5mm LEDs behind focusing lenses. However, there is also an FM radio and a siren. This unit can be used to charge a Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson (the available type of the phone are noted below) type cell phone with the included charger cable.

This product is not so great. I bought it for my mom for Christmas since she had been wanting one and it worked, but you have to do a lot of cranking to get it to hold a charge for even just 20 seconds. The little adaptor things for phones are really confusing, even for someone who is good with electronics. There are much better products out there that hold a better charge and are less of a pain to figure out. I got myself the two pack of "Duracell Crank Light 3 in 1, 3 LED Flashlight, Radio, Charger" from Costco and it is awesome. If you only want this for the crank feature, it's an ok product (if you're okay with also using it for your daily workout), but if you want to use the other features (which you probably do if you're looking at a combo one) then you should get a different one. This one is lame.

This is an all in one item for a globetrotter. An item to store in a suitcase just in case needed.

My recco: this makes also a great item to store in the glove compartment of your car .. again for the just in case needed situations.

The integrated radio plays extremely well in regard to the compact size of this flashlight.

The self powered flashlight is a great contribution to mother earth, no empty batteries to dispose anymore ... FABULOUS!

This multi-purpose flashlight can definately come in handy, and it gets surprisingly good radio reception, you have to be holding it for the best though. The only problem is that with the phone charger, it has to be plugged in and wound at the same time; you can't just wind the flashlight a lot to store a charge on it's battery and then transfer the power over. This makes for a bit of a problem, but otherwise, good tool.
